After the release of the breezy psych-pop “Headblush” EP in December, the rising London-based producer and songwriter T. Evann is back on Nice Guys. His sound trades in a psychedelic pop that takes cues from greats ranging from Pink Floyd to Ronnie McNeir, and exists in a similar world to the likes of Toro y Moi and Unknown Mortal Orchestra. “Shudders” carries a timeless psychedelic sound, a pared-back cut replete with dreamy lo-fi vocals, crisp psych-pop guitars, and atmospheric synths and keys.

London-based producer and songwriter T. Evann (real name Tyler Darrington) is today sharing a new single titled ‘Falling By The Wayside’, the latest to be lifted from his forthcoming ‘Pocus’ EP due out October 22nd on French label Nice Guys. Serving up a collection of breezy psychedelic pop experiments penned over lockdown, the new EP arrives following last year’s ‘Headblush’ EP and a number of standalone singles which have seen T. Evann clock up support from the likes of BBC 6 Music, COLORS, Dummy Mag, Clash Magazine and more. 

‘Falling By The Wayside’ is a piece of intoxicating dream-pop marrying woozy, reverb-soaked guitars and crisp lo-fi vocals, Darrington says of ‘Falling By The Wayside’: “This track was written during a period of isolation. During that time I would find myself looking back at how normal pre-lockdown life would provide a lot of creative stimulation for me and ‘Falling By The Wayside’ attempts to wrestle with what that loss can feel like. On the one hand this song is about how easy it can be for people to slowly begin to fall out of love with their childhood ambitions. But, more than that, it also serves as a story of resilience against failures and using them as a tool to move on and become stronger.”

Attempting to fulfill the human desire of exploration through Isolation and Pandemic.
Television Sets was written within Lockdown and tells the true story about an elderly couple who were supposed to go on a cruise. Due to the pandemic, they set up deck chairs in their living room and watched cruises on TV instead. This bitter-sweet story is both concerning yet satisfying. A song had to be made about it.

T. Evann is a London based composer, who’s been active on the burgeoning local pop and songwriter scene. Recently supported on streaming platforms editorial playlists, Dummy Magazine and pushed on Danger Mouse’s Jukebox, it’s a steady act on the rise.
 
'Clearer', a new single from his soon to release 'Headblush' EP, was the song written after a short period of writer's block. After this time had passed, there was a burst of creativeness that was greater and clearer than the previous - making these stagnant stages a healthy process to go though. Something that artists can often forget about.
