I stayed true to the original for the most part. The beginning is a tease at first, coming in little by little, before allowing the full original vocal arrangement to commence. Also added a touch of delay effect in some parts. Enjoy.

As a talented house and techno producer, DJ, and promoter by night, and master audio engineer by day, this guy knows a thing or two about building a proper mix. Creating a new mix series: while I've had some extra time from Covid I've been going back and digging DEEP into some of my old mixes (recorded onto CD with a very old-school TDK shelf CD burner), dusting them off, re-mastering them, and sharing them with the digital world.

Kick things off with Thick N' Heavy: Originally mixed on all vinyl back in 2002 at the ripe age of 22, this is probably the mix I hold closest to my heart. At the time I had only been playing for a few years so I was still a raw talent, but I definitely hit a creative peak during this era with my methods of mixing - and the music that was coming out was so innovative and fresh sounding that it really helped elevate my game to a new level. This was a very pivotal mix for me - both as a DJ  and an artist - and even almost 20 years later I feel it holds up to the times (for me at least, but I'm probably a little biased).... and I feel like it's one of the best overall mixes I've ever made.

It's been shared off and on throughout the years, mostly by CD back in the day. So I was super happy when I dug up the raw recording of this, and was able to completely remaster it for yours (and my) listening pleasure.

Note: when deciding on how to master this mix, I had some vinyl crackles and pops to consider (lots of white label records in there), and had the choice of attempting to remove them (while also degrade the overall sound), or leave it raw and add the enhancements as is. I chose the latter.

NAPALM VAULT 001 - Thick N' Heavy

Tony Bove, aka T/LEC, is a man from many cultures and an artist of many intricacies. Native of Korea and raised in different cities spanning the entire US, he draws his musical inspiration from his diverse history. T/LEC, a seasoned DJ and producer, has been inspiring minds and dance floors for 25+ years. 

Always known for his seamless mixing and thoughtful programming, he has also attained global recognition for his unique productions that have been supported by some of the industry’s biggest icons. 

He also runs Napalm STL, which has been throwing quality underground events for 15+ years in the St. Louis area. His latest project is Robots & Romance, a DJ duo group with Josh Sedivy (aka DJ Narcosis). 

Tony is also an audio & mastering engineer who runs iMastering (www.intellectualmastering.com), a respected studio which has done engineering work for some of the biggest artists and record labels in the business.
