This is a cover of one of my favorite Buddy Holly tunes.  There are so many I consider favorites...  Anyway, this was really just a recording exercise more than anything else.  Just get get out the gear and dust it off.  I wasn't really too particular with the arrangements or the mix, honestly.  It just felt like a jam and a good time.  Rather than spend hours worrying about the final mix, etc...  Here it is.

Nikki and I recorded the main stuff live before she left for tour.  I added some stuff afterwards just to see how that might work and blend.

If We Were Vampires.WAV

Honestly, it's love/hate with Christmas music. I have always wanted to record a Christmas album. This is a pretty good sketch of what that would be like. I recorded everything mostly live. a punch here and there. It is what it is. Ben's playing all the keyboard stuff. We added all that stuff in about two sessions. We're trying to make it feel and sound live. Emmy was over on Thanksgiving and they sang a little backup to class up the joint. And I uncovered an oldie and repurposed it. Point is, we had so much fun doing it that I think the next go around will be even better.

This thing started at least 15 years ago. I think it's more. Christoph and I wad started recording it with the kids. Emmy and Lily are the little kids singing along. I kept all the original music, Ben added some stuff and I sang a new vocal track. Whatever, it's cute.

When I told Ben we were gonna record some Holiday/Christmas songs. This was the first one we really wanted to do. He had an arrangement he wanted to work with. We changed the key to C. Everything on the project is in C. Why not. 

I pushed hard for the Irish theme. That was for my Grandma.
