Before Technimatic there was Technicolour & Komatic. And before that, in the mid 2000s, we both made and released music as solo artists.

This new project - the ‘Original Structures EP’ - investigates our origins and takes a look at some of the blueprints that form the Technimatic sound.

The opening salvo comes courtesy of 'Make Me Feel' by Komatic, a kinetic, hypnotic dance floor weapon that has been doing serious damage in clubs for the past 12 months.

“The blueprint for this was very much as something strictly for the clubs. The skeleton of the idea I’d formed just after we finished our last album ‘Through The Hours’. I wanted us to have something completely new, something to throw in during the DJ sets that had a slightly harder edge. For us both, it’s always been really important that the DJ sets feel different, that you will always hear music you haven’t heard anywhere else, and especially that you’ll hear new and different music from us. That is part of the excitement in performing live, both for us and hopefully those that come and see us.” - Andy

I didn’t think too hard about it, and just tried to create something that has that musical side we both love, but also packs a punch for the dancefloor. Subdue, one of the UK's finest rising talents, has returned to Riddim Records with some his most elegant work to date. With his unique and stylistic approach to Drum & Bass, 'Dusk', a new four track EP, perpetuates the sound that we at Riddim hold so dear, fusing tech-y rollers, glitchy beats, deep atmospherics and newfangled vocals.

The title track, 'Dusk', is our first stop: progressive euphoria with both incredible warmth and a delicate sound. Deep bass and hypnotic drums bring the vibes.

'When I'm Alone' hangs a sharp left into a dark and tech-y roller with seriously eerie undertones. Subdue goes even deeper with the glitchy 'Reality'. A murky stepper that combines a raunchy lead synth and powerful sub. 

Finally, 'Afraid of You' is the warm glow ending the tunnel, featuring the rich vocals of ES. Kay, one of Riddim's newest signings. A signature ballad to take us home.

It's been nearly a year since Subdue's last Riddim Records feature 'Who Am I' on our VA album in early 2020. He's now returned home, and what a return it is.
