Laying between Vancouver Island and Saltspring island is Cowichan Bay. As Dusk Falls is one of three pieces capturing my experience of the beauty of this stretch of water as evening meanders into night.

The blues have influenced most of modern music. This selection is not classic blues but takes element of melody and harmony from the blues. On this selection I let the Concert Plano setting of the Roland fp-50 sing, all on its own.

Even though they are an essential step in the development of jazz, and despite how delightful they are to the ear, Rags just aren't being composed any more.  So I have written a Suite of three Rags.  Sunny Times is the first. I challenge you to not tap your toe!

Alright, this was composed when it was 25 degrees below zero outside. Really, "just chillin'".  It is set for string orchestra and saxophone.  No overdubbing here -  when they are played together the strings are in the left side of the divided keyboard (the Roland fp-50) and the saxophone is being played on the right side.

Originally, I had named this song "Ambling Along" and had played it much slower.  But the more I have practiced it, the more it has gravitated to the current speed. No longer does it "amble along" as it once did, so the new name became necessary. I hope that now it is truly on its way.

When I recollect, a variety of emotions flood in. This piece of music contains many of them - dramatic celebratory moments, mellow ones of sentimentality, times of chaotic energy. So, as you listen, let your mind wander to.
