The reasons for the species' long-term decline are loss of foraging habitat and pesticide poisoning. We need to combat this. There are few creatures on earth as recognisable as the flamingo. With their eye-catching hot pink get-ups, these gangly birds are famous for their flamboyant group dances like feathered ravers. Most of us associate them with tropical fun, colorful cocktails and summer sunsets, but flamingos are fragile and extremely vulnerable to climate change. As the planet heats up, there's less rainfall which shrinks the swampy lagoons where flamingos find their food and encourages toxic algae and deadly bacteria to thrive. Plus if predators like pythons and coyotes start running out of food too, they target flamingos even more. Flamingos are adorably monogamous and lay just one egg a year, making them slow to reproduce if disaster strikes. We don’t see these long-term impacts right away so it’s easy to push out of mind, but we need to act now if we want to keep these legendary birds dancing. We will donate all proceeds from the release to Nature And Biodiversity Conservation Union (NABU).

This guy needs no introduction. Everybody knows Dunk from Brazil, everybody loves his outstanding minimal Drum & Bass. He is signed to a lot of labels and his incredible output and musical style makes him the hardest working man in Drum & Bass-Business. What a legend. Nothing more to say besides that the splendid artwork for the release comes from Mimbelbi.

The Little Owl’s history with humans stretches way back. Little Owls were immortalised on ancient coins and skyphos (wine cups) in around 500 BC in the Mediterranean as a symbol of the Greek goddess Athena, and they even make a cameo in the Bible. Throughout the centuries popular superstition labeled these owls as harbingers of death, while some cultures celebrated them as icons of practicality, knowledge and wisdom. We should definitely make sure these adorable stern-faced, big-eyed, wise little birds don’t disappear from the world’s woodlands. That is the reason why we will donate all proceeds from the release to Nature And Biodiversity Conservation Union (NABU).

Esym from Australia produces deep Neuro and techy Liquid with a strong cinematic twist and he always accomplishes to write a lot of funk into his tracks. In big letters. He had stunning releases on T3K Recordings before and you can find more of his music on ProtoCode as well as appearances on Cyberfunk, Drumatch and Code Smell. Nice to have him back. It’s practically impossible not to be impressed by the world’s largest primate. For centuries gorillas featured in local folk stories in parts of sub-Saharan Africa and by the 20th century had made their way into imaginations worldwide, appearing as ultra-strong chest-beating beasts wreaking havoc in Hollywood blockbusters like King Kong and Planet Of The Apes. But although you wouldn’t want to mess with a Silverback, gorillas are highly sensitive, intelligent, sociable creatures, and DNA-wise they're our second closest living relative after bonobos and chimpanzees. Sadly our hairy cousins are critically endangered. Gorilla communities have been devastated by disease outbreaks and habitat destruction through mining, logging and road construction. And despite being legally protected in every country where they live, they're still hunted by illegal poachers and often accidentally killed in traps meant for other animals. These giant birds of prey are shy, enigmatic creatures and even now relatively little is known about them. Populations have been on the decline for years because of forest loss and clashes with human activity. They’re often found electrocuted by pylons or drowned in water tanks, and face direct persecution due to claims that they attack livestock (spoiler alert: they don’t). Many end up shot or poisoned. For such a small population, even a handful of deaths a year can be devastating for the species’ survival. But on the flip side, saving even one eagle’s life makes a huge positive difference too. The magnificent ghost-white Snowy Owl is under threat from climate change. Snowy Owls inhabit the icy Arctic Tundra and depend on lemmings as their number one food source. As global temperatures rise, snow and sea ice recede, rain levels increase and parasites and diseases flourish, lemming populations die off and take the Snowy Owls with them. Losing these stunning silent swoopers from the face of the planet would be a real tragedy. This is the reason why all proceeds from this release will be donated to World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

LeStr is from Kazakhstan and his release on Twisted Individuals Grid Recordings was a wake up call for us. We hit him up, asked for tracks and got a full EP with more than a handful of pounding bass and sinister vibes. Straight. Afterwards we found out he also released on Noisias Invisible years ago. What a guy. Big ups Mimbelbi for the topnotch artwork.

LeStR - From Your Look (Preview)

We can’t talk about conservation without looking at the past casualties of human actions, like the now-extinct Tasmanian tiger, or thylacine. With a dog-like appearance and striking tiger stripes, thylacines were the largest carnivores in the marsupial family and actually not related to tigers or wolves at all. They had huge teeth-filled mouths and powerful jaws that could stretch open 120 degrees, and were widely feared by European arrivals to Tasmania in the 1800s. The settlers brought sheep and cattle and believed thylacines attacked them (despite a lack of evidence). In reality thylacines were shy and mostly hunted small prey like birds and rodents. Bounties were offered for dead thylacines and thousands were killed. Finally in 1936, 59 days after the thylacine was officially declared a ‘protected species’, the last thylacine died in a zoo after being accidentally locked out in freezing temperatures overnight. No other living thylacines were ever found. It’s truly tragic that these unique animals were wiped out. We need to take action now to help save other species from extinctionand therefor all proceeds from this release will be donated to World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
