Rhadoo is one of the most important figures in Romanian minimal scene, as well as the underground scene. His DJ and production skills knows no boundaries. His style blends the old with the new, adding new elements to modern electronic music. In 2007, he founded the label [a:rpia:r] with his trusted friends Petre Inspirescu and Raresh. The label’s reputation grew rapidly worldwide and is now a solid platform for artists and music connoisseurs.

Creating worlds never seen before and the constant return to nature as the ultimate designer and source of inspiration are the prosperous obsessions shaping the artistic practice of Silviu Vișan a.k.a Dreamrec. Growing up around his artisan father who was building oversized toys for an amusement park turned into the perfect context to learn about the emotional experience of immersive environments and the secrets of morphing a place into an event. Not to mention it was the starting point for the self-thought wizard to try his hand at DIY magic either bringing joy or conjuring horror. Years later using videofeedback and layers of state-of-the-art software as tools to explore the unusual time&space where computers become genuinely unpredictable and the output becomes a fluid stream of pareidolia, Dreamrec is channeling in international festivals, clubs and art spaces his own visual aesthetic: immersive, mesmerizing and fictional as if visitors / partygoers physically stepped into another dimension. A well known face in the minimal scene, Romanian artist Suciu is a force of nature when he steps foot into the DJ booth. Presenting an unshakable facade when in the mix his only break in focus is to offer a wry smile that hints at the magic that is about to unfurl from the soundsystem.

This is a story that seems to follow Suciu around as each and every performance. From the woods of La Nature Festival to the sweaty dancefloor of Club Guesthouse and far beyond, a welcome pattern has long been formed. Basses vrombissantes de la circulation, percussions sifflantes des boîtes Bluetooth et des haut-parleurs des téléphones portables - les ambitions mondiales des stars internationales se désintègrent sous nos oreilles en déchets sonores réduits à des fréquences hautes ou basses, écrasés et aplatis. Ces résidus volent autour de nos oreilles avec un effet Doppler. Colonisent l'espace public. Flottent en nous comme du plastique dans la mer. Compositrice et performeuse Antje Vowinckel vit à Berlin. Elle a étudié la littérature, la musique et la sociologie. Elle consacre son travail à une poésie du son enregistré et à la relation entre musique et parole, notamment dans sa méthode Automatic Speaking.

Every time I consider to finally step down from the DJ booth with a bold statement another opportunity arises with a high promise to become the chance for an even bolder statement. And her I am, continuing.

So, what to play this time? One recent night gave me the inspiration: a music lovers' trio (me included) hanging at a friend's place while tripping smoothly on mushrooms (me excluded) was wondering which music would be the appropriate accompaniment.

I proposed my "Psychedelic Soul" set (it's here on my SC page) which I believe belongs to the most flawless and fluid mixes I ever managed to conduct. Somehow the flow happened almost by itself here, plus: "surrounded by nature, outdoors vibes and the heavy, monsoon-like rain must have been a great inspiration". So why not get this spirit back into the club, surrounded by a Get Perlonized nature, family vibes, and a heavy monsoon-like love for music! Consequently, back home I delved into the shelves of club psychedelia that had remained untouched and dusty for quite a while.

At Zenner Club, I was very moved when quite a few people in the crowd told me that they had only come to hear me play and that my performance was the one they've been tripping to in the most pleasurable manner. Which confirms me that it is advisable never to follow a safe path in favour of always looking for an adventurous music journey (in this case with the echo of a mushroom feel). The extra fun part of the mission was: 30% of the tracks I mixed I had never played before.

These experiences keep me continuing while still looking for the ultimate boldest statement to step down from the DJ booth. It seems it didn't happen, not even this time.

From the forthcoming album "Nuits Sans Nuit", to be released on May 30th.

Pierre Bastien and Michel Banabila return with Nuits Sans Nuit, their second collaboration following their Baba Soirée debut from 2023. Recorded as an intuitive exchange between Rotterdam and Valencia, the album emerged from a simple ping-pong process: Banabila sculpted sounds and atmospheres, to which Bastien responded with his distinctive instrumental palette: flute-augmented cornet, mechanised log drum, and more. Mixed by Banabila, the result is a raw yet immersive work that resonates with a somnambulant, wide-awake presence.

Pierre Bastien: "When Michel had finished mixing and editing, I listened to the whole record and sensed a dreamlike quality in it. It reminded me of a book I read years ago: ‘Nuits Sans Nuit Et Quelques Jours Sans Jour’ by Michel Leiris.  Around that same time, some fifty years ago, I was playing in Nu Creative Methods with Bernard Pruvost, a duo that appears on the Nurse With Wound list. Since then, Pruvost has turned to painting, and his work is as dreamlike as our music. We asked him to contribute one of his paintings for the album cover."

Nuits Sans Nuit unfolds through shifting shades of melancholy. "I don't know how to describe the feeling of these crazy times we live in," says Banabila. "Les plus désespérés sont les chants les plus beaux,”  Bastien quotes De Musset. Wordless yet deeply expressive, the album invites listeners into a space of contemplation, where meaning emerges through immersion — like ritual music carrying an unspoken message. Echoes of saudade, blues, fado, and soleá surface in the duo’s playful noise, reimagined through their singular vocabulary.
