Started by recording three samples from my little daughter's toy guitar with my iPod. The entire track solely consists of these three samples, though heavily processed. This is just a try-out and needs some mastering.

“This album basically consists of beautiful sound materials from Nguyễn Hồng Nhung aka Sound Awakener, based in Hanoi, Vietnam. Her special soundscape brought me many inspirations, so I immediately figured out what I have to do. Although both of us have basically been trying to turn our attentions to beauty which inhere in elements of minimalism, consecutiveness, silence, darkness, at the beginning of making this album, in an attempt to share each other's sensibility, we interacted very often, and then, eventually found out the affinity. To combine things we see, hear, touch, taste, smell, feel in our everyday life is just only what we wanted to express in our music. We have confidently concluded that it's a thing we've been looking for. We two artists from Asia are, as it were, AWAKENER with SIX senses.”

“I discovered Gallery Six’s music in summer 2014. I really, really love the sound he created as well as his photos so I got in touch with him and we started discussing a bit about the collaboration. I am much inspired by his approach to field recordings and electronic sounds – which is a great reminder of nature. 

In this album I tend to focus on layering soft soundscapes and adding classical music influence – this is the first time I’ve ever done it. 
For me Minimalistic Freedom is an experience for the peace of mind and my usual admiration for nature. It is a strange sweetness through pain – since most of my parts were recorded at one of the hardest times in my life. It is my pleasure to have Gallery Six throughout this musical journey.”

For some reason my shortcut through the woods was flooded. Every year the water level in this area was rising until the location became permanently waterlogged. Trees fell and the former forest became silent and inaccessible. This summer the area was drained, and it is now no longer a swamp or a forest. In the evaporating puddles the last of the remaining water creatures can be heard crunching.

Preview of a piece currently being exhibited at the Mile End Pavilion in London. A collaboration with psychogeographer and writer Bradley Garrett, in association with the Wellcome Trust and Guerrilla Science.

*Exhibition wall notes:*

The source material stems from a series of field recordings made at Denning Point, a 23 story residential building in Tower Hamlets, to investigate the meaning of rest in London’s changing cityscape.

The sounds of the environment, the building and its structure - some inaudible to the human ear - were captured using experimental recording techniques. These have been turned into a composition by Tytti, which features a spoken word piece assembled by Garrett from the works of numerous writers and scholars who reflect on the nature of vertical living.

The piece is an invitation to listen and think about the impact of vertical architecture on our sonic and social experiences of the city.

Wil Bolton's 'Maemi' takes its title from the Korean word for cicadas. Recorded live at Cafe OTO, London during the Home Normal label's Homenormalism festival on 3 August 2013, Wil weaves effected guitar drones, synthesizer, music box, effects pedals and environmental sounds creating a slow moving dronescape. The environmental sounds - timber mill machinery, traffic, and the buzz of cicadas - were recorded in Incheon, South Korea in August 2012, during an artist residency at the Incheon Art Platform.
