Spiral Shells

the 4th movement of a 7 movement work for Septet.  Each movement has a mirrored retrograde (and inversion).  The first 3 movements appear again for the last 3 movements but in reverse order and in retrograde format(so the last note of the last movement is a inversion of the 1st note of the first movement) The 4th movement is also a standalone work based on Subwoofer Lullaby and another theme from the septet.  At about 1:30 you will hear the 'mirror' where the retrograde starts.

William-Core is an overture for beginning band and/or orchestra.  Strict hip-hop beat, useful for teaching the actual technique of hip hop rhythms and patterns to younger music students.  Inspired by a young dog that loves hip hop, go-go, and to eat tacos.

Written in 2009 after the election.  The previous 8 years had been especially hard on me.  I was finally starting to move out of my punk-rocker from the suburbs phase of my life into a more outward reaching phase.  The recording is bad, because I was bad at recording (duh), I performed all of the parts, there's zero midi (so all real keyboards and horns).  It's also one of the few pieces I've written that I haven't repurposed for another ensemble, group, or format.  I hope that it gives the listener a brief break from the hard work of being here today, and also shows how much growth can happen in under a decade as a person.

sampled Cat purrs layered, cleaned up, and stacked around for variety.  The idea is to create a minimally changing drone of Cat purrs suitable for a shortish nap.

The original framing of Groundhogs in Orchard Hill was a song i wrote about commuting by train and driving across country.  It went through dozens of changes before it became what it is.  The underlying chords and melody never quite changed.  This is a version of that.
