Solid Steel (2nd January) In hour 2 we welcome Discodromo, the Italian duo based in Berlin who also founded the Cocktail d'Amore label alongside Berghain resident Boris Dolinski. Although down a notch in tempo, this mix retains the quality throughout. We don't have a tracklist, but it's full of their trademark sound that successfully treads the line between cosmic disco and house.

We've been pestering Craig for a mix ever since we started the podcast 3 years ago and we'd abandoned all hope of getting something from him so imagine our surprise when we awoke one morning to find this sitting pretty in our inbox. The cynical amongst us would say he's got a party to promote and you'd be right but hey, we'll take it. Craig's currently riding high on the success of his debut album on Tsuba 'Buy The Ticket Take The Ride' and his own Magic Feel stable is back after a short hiatus with a cracking new EP from Paresse & Markus Gibb which is a must buy. As for the aforementioned party, it's is taking place at Bar A Bar in Stoke Newington, London on 20th March with Craig himself and Clandestino favourites Paramida and Khidja. Hamburg homies Jakobus Siebels and Mense Reents make up the Die Vogel duo. The duo make some of the finest deep tech and phsyc house and have released together almost exclusively on Dj Koze and Marcus Fink’s Pampa records. Their name simply translates as ’the birds’ and the super talent multi-instrumentalists put on one hell of a live show, flying between the trombone, trumpet, flute and clarinet all glued together seamlessly with percussion and techno for good measure (obviously). 

Ahead of their upcoming set at The Social festival, the pair have dug deep for this mix. Putting their heads together and providing a selection that takes you on a  journey through house, techno, psychedelic rock and beyond. Press play!

“Instead of making a classic DJ mix, we rather combined acapellas and pieces that are close to our hearts with sketches of our own music. At our first meeting we listened to some vinyl records and some sessions that we had made a while ago with Alphorns and Steel Drums. We chose about 30 pieces and digitized some of them. Using different genres in the mix wasn't an issue. Mense collected all the material and assembled it on the computer. Part of the podcast are also two songs by some other bands of ours (NRFB and JaKönigJa).
To us, the mix has a nocturnal - urban and even a somewhat cinematic mood. So put on your headphones and leave the house! There's a lot to discover. Enjoy!”
