"SuperStudio" anticipates Calibro's new album DECADE that hits the streets next 02 February. Quoting the band "SuperStudio is the main theme for a movie that doesn't exist, starring Clint Eastwood and Pam Grier saving earth from the invasion of deadly robots from another planet" and it's pure Dynamite. 

Recorded at the legendary Officine Meccaniche studios in Milan by CALIBRO's usual suspect and Grammy Award winner Tommaso Colliva, "DECADE" marks 10 years of Calibro 35's releases and it's the very first album recorded by Calibro with an orchestral-inspired enlarged line-up. Active since 2008 CALIBRO 35 enjoys a worldwide reputation as one of the coolest independent band around. During their ten years career, they have been sampled by Dr. Dre on his Compton album and Jay-Z, they shared stages worldwide with the likes of Roy Ayers, Muse, Sun Ra Arkestra, Sharon Jones, Thundercat, Headhunters and as unique musicians they've collaborated with, amongst others PJ Harvey, Mike Patton, John Parish and Stewart Copeland and Nic Cester (The Jet). Described by Rolling Stone magazine's as "the most fascinating, retro-maniac and genuine thing, that happened to Italy in the last years", Calibro 35 now count on a number of aficionados worldwide which includes VIP's fans such as Dj Food (Ninja Tune), Mr Scruff and Huey Morgan (Fun Lovin' Criminals) among others.

Breaking the Ice is an extended mix of rare—mostly never before heard—Icelandic tracks that are heavily underscored with psych, funk, soul, disco, and in-the-pocket rhythms, all of which are expertly mixed by renowned DJ and turntablist, DJ Platurn. 

The music presented has been compiled through a lifetime of collecting, while others have been passed down through Platurn’s familial, musical roots. 

The packaging includes rare photos, via Platurn's father Magnus Thordarson, and other ephemera from Iceland's small yet vibrant music scene during the late 1960s thru the early 1980s. The release also features extensive liner notes by longtime music journalist David Ma, couching the music’s history as well and the region’s bygone era in which it arose.

In 2017 Shambhala was threatened by rapidly spreading forest fires. On the Forrest Stage, during my ELPHNT SET, I proclaimed it “a rain dance” in hopes to put the fires out. Many evacuated as word spread that the last day might not happen, but late into the night, after my set, it rained!

The mix you’re listening to is my WOLF SET from the Village Stage on that last day. At the end of my set, on my very last song “Feel the Love”, it started raining again! The timing was incredible. The mood was euphoric. 

Without a doubt, this was one of the most magical experiences I’d ever had DJ’ing. There are a few clips online that really help paint the picture of what you hear. 

Thanks to the Shambhala posse for always showing me so much love, shout out to Mother Nature and all the Wolves that got down with me that night!

While on tour in Hawaii I rented a bike and rode around the island of Maui. My backpack full with two avacados, a few dates, a pocketknife and my bike repair kit. A strong wind on my back and off I went along the unforgettable Hana Highway, an experience etched into my memory. Every 10 minutes I was confronted with different climates, light, and vegetation. Roads strewn with passionfruit turning the surface into a skating rink filled with rainbows, fresh water and salt water. Sleeping under the stars and waking up with a dose of adrenelin instead of my usual caffeine because I had to climb up a tree to get to my coconut milk.
Get Down is my musical interpretation of that trip.

[dunkelbunt] invites us on a musical picnic and serves assorted specialities from around the globe - some of them frisky, some melancholic. The "Picnic with [dunkelbunt]" is colourful, and all those drawers are wide open: Lonely Drifter Karen bewitch with their blend of chanson and mystic folk - french hiphop courtesy of Manau meets Skeewiff's electro blues groove (including a sample from the Coen Bros. movie "Oh Brother Where Are Thou" by the way). Next up: a rare Imam Balidi remix of Bouzouki legend Manolis Hiotis. More where that came from: 

Arthur Lee's almost forgotten soul hit "Everybody's Gotta Live", Oi Va Voi's Klezmer "Ladino Song" featuring the mesmerizing vocals of KT Turnstall. Then, crazy Parisian duo Nôze feat. Dani Siciliano sends an invitation to "Danse Avec Moi"… and when indie rock meets indian pop, it sounds like Firewater's sizzling "This Is My Life". Buenos Aires sends two acts who couldn't be more different: while Axel Krygler's "Princesa" sneaks in on an oriental nu jazz tip, the DJ Delay Dub of Tremor's "Viajante" smartly balances digital and analog grooves.

[dunkelbunt]'s latest single offering "Schlawiener" caters to those who love electro swing, just like Mad Manoush's "Illusionen" does - the latter fueled by Django Reinhardt/Stephane Grapelli inspired gypsy jazz.

No other outfit represents the "new mediterranean sound" like the Watcha Clan does: from their home port Marseille they absorb gnawa from Mahgreb just like they do Balkan brass & turkish arabesque. Their tribute to this picnic is "Goumari" in the infamous DJ Click version - on other occasions they already got remixed by legendary 4Hero!

Baba Zula from Istanbul gained worldwide reputation upon being featured in Fatih Akin's "Crossing The Bridge" documentary - they recorded their picnic contribution "Cecom" during sunset on a boat on the Bosporus river. The vocalist on that track is Brenna MacCrimmon, who worked with a.o. Shantel before. And talking about "Crossing The Bridge": Nil Karaibrahamgil's "Bencil" is a souvenir from [dunkelbunt]'s bicycle tour along the Danube river in 2004, travelling from Vienna to Istanbul.

This „Picnic with [dunkelbunt]“ collection is some sort of Ulf Lindemann’s travel diary, brimming with sounds and souvenirs... brought home from countries & cities where he managed to a.o. get rare cassette tapes from taxi drivers, delete pictures from his camera in order to record a few seconds of mesmerizing music only to play it to smiling retailers in the next big city. And when he's staying in his home harbour Vienna, the man is likely to spend endless nights checking on all those global frequencies together with his friend DJ Sid Data. Those just some of the many ways all those musical pearls found their way into dunkelbunt's picnic basket.
