SERA024: Satellite Era presents "Distant Arrays Volume 08" - the eighth and final edition of the various artist series that has aimed to diversify our collection of experimental electronic music.

25% of total revenue made from this release will be donated to California Community Foundation (CCF) to aid the people of Greater Los Angeles as they struggle with the aftermath of rampant wildfires. This will come directly from the label’s share and not affect the artists - the nonprofit was selected by Iris Ipsum, an artist local to the inflicted areas and an essential part of our team.

All good must arrive to its eventual end - it is with great honor to announce the conclusion of Distant Arrays. After eight unique editions in just over four years, we are ready to allow the beloved series that helped us expand our label worldwide to properly rest. We welcomed 30 artists from around the experimental music sphere to come together and push sonic boundaries further than we could have ever imagined. For our last transmission, we have recruited four promising artists to represent our chosen family of sound architects, each meticulously drafted to help build the future of our collective.

We begin with the return of our dear friend and collaborator Iris Ipsum. Following up on the incredible “Xtilde EP” released with us last year, “Flowform” essentially serves as a bonus track to the project. The Los Angeles based artist effortlessly showcases their ability to capture the essence of golden age electronica, while still producing modern and pristine sounds.

Along with his hip-hop inspired Rsrch Chmcls project, Smokestax has been on our radar for quite some time. Making waves in the American bass scene over the last few years, we welcome one of our favorite New Yorkers with “Squish.” The track is rightfully named after how it sounds - squelchy, slowed braindance gently scratches our itch as the song progresses in high spirits. 

Another exciting addition to our crew is s8jfou, a mysterious French producer, programmer, synth builder, and live performer. A natural jack of all trades, he makes his Satellite Era debut with “Your Silence” - screechy synths clash with punchy breakbeats and an overpowering kick drum. This only marks the beginning of our work with the renowned sonic wizard.

Lastly, we welcome Brooklyn up-and-comer Holovue to share his latest track “Transient” after a successful debut EP recently. Eerie and thought-provoking, the emotive track blankets warm and atmospheric pads over quintessential jungle loops to deliver a formidable signoff to our series finale.

Distant Arrays has been an immersive showcase of our audio/visual capabilities as a collective. We are extremely grateful to have introduced you to our growing team, continuously expanding our newfound interpretation of sound. As difficult as it is to say goodbye to this part of our journey, we are delighted to share what comes next. Until then - we will ride off into the sunset, drenched in the nostalgia of this fruitful audio experiment.

Division is the sound of two minds pulling in different directions—and landing somewhere unexpectedly unified. The debut EP from Amsterdam-based producers Malvae and Jaro, Division is a study in contrast and convergence: jungle and ambient, machine and field, memory and forward motion.

Malvae, raised between the Netherlands and New Zealand, is known for sculpting rich, tactile soundscapes from field recordings, analog gear, and chopped vocals—building worlds that feel both handcrafted and alien. His solo work (Amazonas, Chrysalis) channels natural textures into club contexts, never settling into one genre for too long. Jaro, by contrast, comes from the indie-electronica lineage, weaving Thom Yorke-esque vocals, crooked grooves, and emotive synthwork into projects like Morning Light and soundtracks for theatre and podcast.

Though they studied together years ago, Division marks their first proper release as collaborators—a record shaped as much by the space between them as their shared musical instincts. One of its standout tracks, “This Side,” was born from a shelved techno project, resuscitated and reimagined amid Jaro’s studio clutter. The name comes from the plywood studio fixtures still bearing a faded shipping label: this side up.

The EP folds together decades of influence: the lurching swing of Antipodean d’n’b, the atmospheric density of Amsterdam’s club nights, and a shared love for making non-club music that still works in the club. Analog synths hiss alongside jungle-adjacent percussion; melodies bend and unravel, only to reform under new light. There’s tension here, but not conflict—just the friction required for ignition.

At its core, Division is about duality: two artists, two geographies, multiple timelines of unfinished ideas colliding and completing one another. It’s a study in full-circle moments—culturally, sonically, spiritually.
