That's right, I covered the entire song. 

Special thanks to the MIDI from en.midimelody.ru for giving me a jumping-off point for writing the chords and drums. Everything else I did from scratch. I think I had the most fun writing the Clean Electric and the guitar solos. They were the most fulfilling.

Now that Kawai Sprite put up the chromatic scale for Simpey, I've found myself creating things with DirectWave for the first time. I sampled the drums from Roses and all the bass notes and made them into DirectWave patches.

Also, as a side effect of making this, I realized that any time David sings the words "China Girl" throughout the song he ONLY uses notes that are from the opening riff (D E F# G A B), and that's awesome.

Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention, a major part of the creation process was repeatedly chopping up the source audio and shifting it forward because the tempo kept changing by miniscule amounts, I fucking hate that when I want to cover something.

Update: after I made this cool pseudo-octave pedal effect yesterday I wanted to test it out on something that uses electric guitar. Since I've always felt this cover didn't have enough of that sound to it, I brought that in. In doing so, I also brought in another instance of the Muted Guitar that I'd forgotten, touched up a couple note lengths for Senpai, and fixed up bits of the accompanying guitar so they matched more closely.
Update 2: did some more changes to the vocals. Most importantly, though, I improved the mixing on the "real" electric guitar sound- to the point where I'm actually proud of it now. It's nice and subtle now, but it still stands out in the mix and clearly has reverb placed on it, which was my intention.
Also, the 2nd instance of the Refrain, the 2nd phrase I changed up some. The harmony is different and the 3rd note in the phrase was extended for both. 
OH, that reminds me, I added Bounce Loop to a few more of SP and BF's vox samples, so the legatos are longer (and I made them sound good at these longer lengths, too). 
Also took out pitch bend on one of BF's notes during the A section because I didn't like it, but I don't know if anyone noticed when it was changed to that, anyway, so all's well.

For the past couple of weeks I've been getting into the Mother franchise backwards (Third to first game), and after playing 3 and Earthbound I just HAD to let this idea exit my brain. Everything beyond the chiptune part is just a cover of Pokey Means Business with Mother 3 instrumentation and a couple of my own edits ^^;;

Finally did an arrange of the MIDI that I'm more-or-less satisfied with (the mix is at its best for the last section). The SuperSponge one is still on the table, but it's still going to take some doing.

Waquatic Ruin Zone

This is theme for the final level of Chapter 2, Midnight Mall. It's a massive centre in Crystal City that opens at night, and since Chapter 2 takes place at night, the three heroes get to take a shortcut through the mall to fight Mr. Cyber on the roof. This song was originally gonna be the Crystal Metropolis theme, but it didn't fit the level.

Hi everybody! Kinda crazy to be writing this out, because in all honesty I was never sure if this was going to get finished haha. BUT HERE WE ARE !! And I could not be happier to have this done. Messing with all these different songs was a lot of fun, like I originally just started it as wanting Nightcall and Beat It to appear in vocal form but ended up writing a whole list out as I went along. It was kinda weird to incorperate them as well honestly - I've not really done mashups before. Just some funny things now and then. So MASSIVE THANKS to @mainmanflux for coming in clutch and saving me from some mistakes that nearly slipped into the song. With that thank you as well @fungalfella, @thedboy, and @evilredyoshis for - most importantly keeping quiet - but also just taking the time to look at what I had and helping in ur own ways. Whether it be literal feedback or just food for thought. Or just qwelling the anxiety PFFT.

@deezwhosir man I'm a be real firstly I'm so sorry this was one of the first megalos to be started in the titmoar collection and the last to be released I know it's been ages PFFT. But also I never could have made it like this those years ago. Outside of that though - you're an amazing friend and I really hope that you have an utterly amazing Birthday man.
