Butter Building HQ

Don't be fooled by the cover art. It's actually a cover that uses the SNES version's instruments. I had a bit of a brain fart and forgot that I probably shouldn't be using the 8-bit version's title but, from the first, the way it looks instantly conjured in my mind what became the thumbnail.
I spent almost the entirety of the second Dollhouse stream making that 8-bit edit of Wonderland's world splash.

9 days after posting on private-- still not sure if I like this mix, but I like it better now than I did at the time of writing the first part of the desc. Not to mention it's been a while since I put anything up, so I'll put it on public for now and worry about changing the mix later.

I've actually been working on stuff pretty much every day, but never reaching a point of completion for any of them :-/

I do feel like I've had some growth in my abilities with C700, mostly within this past week or two. My knowledge of theory's definitely shrunk though, over the course of the summer. God dammit.

Update: added in the low end harmony at the start of the song. Also added the glissando, the timpani and crash cymbal, and brought back the 2nd flute in the parts where I'd muted it. Reverb settings are also different.

Fridges On Fire!

Had a dream (yesterday) morning that lasted about 8 minutes total, I feel like. Basically real-time for what happened in it.
I dreamed there was this TikTok I saw (which is already something because I don't watch TikTok's). The first shot was a yellow travel suitcase lying on some grass in front of a bush. Some stuff was dropped onto it while the narrator begins speaking. 
A sonorous Alto's voice starts with 'So my parents took me to a funeral recently, and (...)' She said about two full sentences in this tone before the shot changed. Next shot was of a rain-soaked forest looking place, with a path stretching beneath a sort of large, pointed oval shape made by trees (like a lot of desktop wallpapers AND the cover image) for as far as one could see. 

This shot featured the narrator, revealed to be a girl dressed in black-- it looked like Tiaramisu's getup from Wario Master of Disguise (romantic goth, I think you'd call that). She was kinda short, pale, and had a button nose. She had pink hair, reaching down to about halfway down her neck. She was doing some silly dances in front of said nature walk pathway.
Some of her moves were kind of Fortnite-y, others were shuffling. One of them looked like when people draw the fusion dance in comic panels (not the connecting part, the first part where they do like an Elvis point).
Overall, one could describe it as charmingly shit. "Natural talent but no skill."

The narration by this point had segued into basically being a Dear John letter. The last part of the video's narration that I heard, I can more or less remember, and went like:
'(...)I was just thinking I should focus on the things I care about, like my parents and my dog...' Then she realizes that sounds really bad and adds: "I-I still LIKE you, and everything! It's just, some things had to go, y'know?" in a bargaining tone of voice. That was when the video looped.

You know how dreams will give you context for what you're looking at even if you don't experience it in real-time? Well, I "knew" from the outset that the whole thing was a shitpost uploaded by Echel, and that they had linked it to me as a sort of "check out this gaff I made."
The girl in it was basically my mental image of them. It was that sort of "friend appears in your dream but you've never actually seen their face" syndrome. It was an abstraction of their sona, basically.

No clue how comments on Tic-Tac actually work, but in my dream they worked like SC comments. 
Like I would have in real life, I went to comment "this video is Fucking funny" using capitals to emphasize. Then, ALSO like real life, I thought "hmm only capitalizing Fucking might get misconstrued" so I changed my comment to what would eventually become this track's title.

Another aspect of Echel being the creator of the TikTok was it had an original score. It was a chorus section that was sampled. The only part that stuck with me after waking was the lead, both the color & MOST of the melody. 
Quick as I could, I wrote it up in MuseScore before my memory of it could deteriorate like always. Tried my best to recreate the vibe I'd gotten from the drums, since I couldn't actually remember them.
After that, I brought it over to FL, added the Luigi's Mansion synth to the lead, and tried my best to recreate the vibe. I got about a 60% success rate on that front, because of how I arranged it. I maybe could've gotten closer.

Also, it's worth noting that the TikTok didn't last as long as this. It MAYBE lasted as long as 16 bars but I'm pretty sure it was only as long as the first loop. I just wanted to incorporate the neat syncopation that the Delay causes on the melody.
