What's lost when a song is compressed into an MP3? To the untrained ear -- perhaps nothing. But to Ryan Maguire, a PhD student in Composition and Computer Technologies at UVA,  the data that's lost in MP3 compression is something to be mined. In fact, it's the source of his stunning and ghostly 'lost sound' compositions. He spoke to Soundboard's Emily Richardson-Lorente about his revolutionary sound project, "The Ghost in the MP3."
