BBE Music’s baby sister label Batakari welcomes Portuguese hip-hop pioneer Tekilla, presenting his long awaited fourth studio album, ‘Olhos de Vidro’.

In this, his first full-length project since 2014, Tekilla looks back on a long career in music, from slinging mixtapes back in ’95 right through to the present day. Collaborating with a combination of old friends and new faces, the album features Dino D’Santiago, Papillon and Amaura Margarinhos among others. Directly translated as ‘Glass Eyes’, ‘Olhos de Vidro’ is produced by Fred Ferreira (Orelha Negra, Buraka Som Sistema, Banda do Mar). An album without filters, benefitting from all the wisdom gained throughout his long journey in music, Olhos de Vidro shows Tekilla’s years of hard work and natural talent maturing together like fine wine.

Telmo Galeano, aka Tekilla, was born in Peniche to Angolan and Italian parents. Part of the first wave of Portuguese MCs, he was instrumental in building a scene for the music he loved during the 1990s. In 2005 he formed the super-group MadVision, a collective comprising Sam The Kid, KacETO and DJ Link, creating an eponymous album that has gone on to become a bona fide classic in Portugal. Galeano is also a former nationally ranked competitive skateboarder, and nowadays splits his time between making music and working as a stylist for the likes of DJ Craze, David Guetta, Fernando Cabral, and Nélson Freitas to name just a few.

Alastair Lane, one of the hottest young talents to emerge from Paris in recent years co-stars the EP with the French funky House music don, pursuing Frappé’s tradition to bring together well-established producers and future stars of the French scene. For the party to be complete, the two guests are joined by the label co-founders Ten Fingerz and Basile the Suresnes, with the 4 artists placing The Godbanger under the sign of funk and disco, for a 5-track EP that will have you booty-shaking all night.

"Prigioniero a Mantova". Così si è sentito Antonio Moresco (Canti del caos, Il grido) nei passati mesi di quarantena, in isolamento per la pandemia nella città che gli diede i natali, costretto tra quattro mura come le piante d'appartamento. Abituato a scrivere dappertutto – "nella sala d'aspetto di una stazione, su delle panchine, sui treni, a letto dopo essermi svegliato di soprassalto per l'irruzione improvvisa di un'idea, in residence disabitati, in camere di passaggio" – ha dovuto necessariamente fermarsi a meditare, tra silenzi notturni e desolazione dovuti all'emergenza sanitaria. Trasformando la reclusione in nuova occasione di scrittura, Moresco ha intrapreso una riflessione (Canto degli alberi) sul rapporto fisico e metafisico tra l'essere umano e la Natura e sulla forza di adattamento degli alberi casalinghi e cittadini, "capaci di germogliare in luoghi inattesi". Lo incontra Bianca Pitzorno, scrittrice che di alberi, silenzi, sogni di fuga ha spesso raccontato nei suoi libri (La casa sull'albero, La bambinaia francese, Il sogno della macchina da cucire).
