Next up in our mix series is Kohra, a producer, DJ, and founder of Qilla Records, now based in the coastal town of Goa. The name "Kohra" (Urdu for fog/mist) captures the essence of his sound - mysterious, shapeshifting, and immersive. With releases on Spacelab, Inner Tension, Mana Abundance, and many more, his music carries a cinematic weight, drifting between the ancient and the astral. Beyond his own work - Qilla Records, founded in 2011 - has become a home for boundary-pushing artists across disciplines, recently marking its 100th release with ‘Chakravyuh’, a compilation featuring over 35 artists from across the globe, reaffirming its commitment to community and experimentation.

In this mix, Kohra offers warmth and hypnosis flowing seamlessly through spacey and rolling trance-tinged techno. It is grounded in bumpy, yet psychedelic basslines with layered textures and fluid transitions that reflect Kohra’s deep understanding of pacing and progression. True to his style, Kohra avoids the obvious in favor of nuance, drawing the listener in with a sound that’s introspective yet expansive.

His mind-bending and freaky DJ sets have earned him multiple appearances with Berlin label CRUDE, where he has become a core and elemental member of their inner artist circle.

“This mix is inspired by a beautiful trip to Armenia ... from playing a special b2b with Arman at Hayfilm to exploring stunning landscapes with Theresa, from juicy green hills in the north to the red mountains of the south. It features tracks from our long car rides and some I played with Arman. A lighter, joyful mix that captures the mood of it all.”

Whether in a sweaty basement, an open-air rave, or a tightly curated club night, she brings a distinct presence—focused, precise, and always listening. Alongside her work behind the decks, Matriark is also known for her curatorial role in several local initiatives, helping to shape and support a more inclusive and sustainable club culture in Copenhagen.

“My mixes don’t always need to represent what I would play in my DJ sets, because that depends on many other aspects (the party, set time, location, etc.). But I like to have a theme, mood, or genre for myself to keep it interesting. It’s been a long time since I made a trance mix, and for this platform it makes a lot of sense to me. This mix is inspired by all the amazing trance I’ve been hearing on the dancefloor this summer. Hope you like it!”
