The Gift Of Suffering is a collection of pieces that I composed over a period of time between May 2017 and September 2020. These works reflect life experiences and spiritual lessons learned and relearned as a result of being a physical manifestation of spirit bound to flesh and bone. In this reality that we share, we all have things that we have suffered over. Some of these were out of our control. Some were self-created as a result of the decisions that we made in our life choices. This work is a story of the human experience from a somewhat nihilistic existence and the conditions that surround it.

Doyle's latest meisterwerk, Experiments of the Spectral Order Vol. II, finds the former electric guitarist and lead growler playing several soft-synthesizers, a Korg Trident Mark II analog synth, acoustic guitar, and using his voice as an instrument (along with his wife Peggy). The eventful, portentous spacescapes here make one wish Stanley Kubrick were still alive to direct a sequel to 2001: A Space Odyssey, so he could use these pieces. I don't say this lightly, but this album's “KU775a” pretty much out-frights György Ligeti's Lux Aeterna. “Entrusted with Emptiness” is another fraught trip through pitiless desolation, turning Tangerine Dream into a Pomegranate Nightmare. 

But the album's most stunning track is “Pillars of Creation.” It begins with seething synth thrums and anguished circuit frying, then intensifies and ascends to an infernal vortex of aerated drone the likes of which I've rarely heard in my many decades of drone appreciation. The song gradually tapers to a pathos-laden fade-out that sounds like the last hymn you hear as your spaceship plummets in an infinite death spiral. 

Given the aural breadth and emotional potency of Experiments of the Spectral Order Vol. II, it's odd that Hollywood directors aren't knocking down the door at Doyle's Witch Ape Studio for his massive sonic storm systems. Maybe he needs Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe's agent.  - Dave Segal

5 Reality Is Broken

Suspended In Static, although split up into five separate movements, is a full piece of music that is meant to be listened to in its entirety from start to finish. 

The initial tracks were recorded as improvisation and then subsequent layers were added to fill out the piece. The instruments used were the Moog Matriarch Dark analog synthesizer and one other software synth. We strived to keep a minimal track count. Five separate tracks were used to make Suspended In Static of which four were from the Matriarch Dark, including the first improv and three overdubs. Our goal was to make a full and compelling soundscape with a sci-fi flavor that also exhibits tinges of psychedelia. 

Imagine if you will, a pulsar inside of our own galactic neighborhood spewing forth radiation and magnetic energy over vast distances of space. Radio frequencies beyond our own human perception fluctuate, expand, and contract with power so immense that it is unfathomable. All the while, the cosmic flux is warping space-time beyond any logical reasoning. If any voices are heard in your experience when listening to the song, they are audio hallucinations in nature. No vocals or voices are in this recording.

Some people make joyous and happy music. I do not. However, this is the music that I love and it brings a smile to my face. May it be so with you.

Thomas Andrew Doyle (TAD, Brothers of the Sonic Cloth, Hog Molly. Having Spent his formative years in music playing in Jazz clubs while attending school studying classical and jazz music at Boise State University, Doyle comes forth with a symphonic take on what is going on in his head. Spawned from the dark and dreary recesses of Doyle’s psyche comes an immense sound of textures, rhythms and material suitable for film and stand alone listening, disquieting all who are within an earshot. People who are familiar with his music should expect the unexpected. Doyle’s entry into the world of symphonic composition is no novice beginner’s attempt. Incineration Ceremony is a musical journeyman’s expression that is genuine, heartfelt, honest, uncompromising and authoritative.
