A – Margaman : Obeahman

We kick off with this dark little moody roller which goes straight in with classic cantankerous percussion, accompanied by movie style yardman vox that break for the drop. Heavy classic low oscillating bass ensues rolling the track out in true junglist fashion with clever edits throughout. Setting the pace for the EP and a true dance floor showdown!

B – Kumarachi : Informer

Kumarachi goes back to the golden hard hitting dnb era of the mid 00’s with this cut. A rolling intro breaks down into a build-up guided by well-placed militant clash vocals! The drop hits you with a classic infectious grinding bassline that sends the place into meltdown, and has already devastated dancefloors on dub. The track has lots of intricate switches in the bassline to keep the ravers bubbling throughout. Damage!

C – Dawn Raid – Keep Me Warm

Another soul-filled dancefloor track that will be a sureshot missile in any DJ’s track list. Label head honchos Dawn Raid’s ‘Keep Me Warm’ buys into their trademark characteristics… by building a very soulful sample laden landscape with soul/rnb samples rife as the sun-drenched vocals set the footing for the track. Upon the drop, the elements are complemented very nicely by a big rollin’ bassline groove that pulsates till the tracks conclusion. Sweet.

D – Next Chapter – Inside Out

This one rolls in from an artist who has opened the Next Chapter of his production prowess. ‘Inside Out’ borrows from those 80’s rare groove vibes, and rolling beats start this track off correct building up to the drop. Absolute devastation ensues in the form of big, classic distorted bass stabs and crunchy, hard rolling beats throughout, which will take any dance floor up to fever pitch! A true rolling banger that finishes off the EP leaving you wanting more!

After 19 years working with a huge spectrum of DnB greats, London based Irishman Cian McCann has long since established his place in the scene. From his early days in Dublin with the Bassbin label to working with the likes of Calibre,4 Hero, Klute, Alix Perez, Rockwell and Noisia, he has never stood still. 2008's Cheap Shots LP for Total Science's CIA Records was a high point, with lead track Walk Away bringing vocalist Steo to the worlds attention.

The second part of Philth’s ‘Moments in Time’ LP is about to drop on Dispatch Recordings; after the success of its first segment, it’s sure to make a similar impact and start 2020 at a formidable height for Philth. Comprising thirteen more brand new selections, it’ll remind listeners of why his debut LP was such a sought-after release.

The album opens with ‘Let You Fall’, drawing for old-school breaks and emotive voice overtures. Meanwhile, Ella Sopp joins Philth once again for ‘Just a Memory’, with her luring vocals streaming through the mix. Daniela Rhodes is the next featuring artist alongside Philth for ‘Solar Cycle’, their drawn-out melodies and sublime vocals are underpinned by the tracks cinematic breakdowns and ambitious extended arrangement. ‘The Teacher’ pays homage to Philth’s darker waters, with aggressive distorted sub bass and rolling techstep drums. Interlude ‘The Storm’ nods to Philth’s vast musical background, whilst ‘Rivers’ allows you to become lulled by its searing strings. US duo Quadrant & Iris then join Philth for ‘Emerald’, a collaboration which mixes the light and darker elements which make all three producers so buy-on-sight. ‘Damaged’ is more ruminating, with moodier undertones and Becca Jane Grey makes another appearance with Philth for the rollers mix of ‘Lost in a Moment’.
‘Claws’ shows a new production face from Philth, with his drum work acting as a centre piece. ‘The Light’ once again demonstrates his lighter side, like the ethereal tones of ‘Just a Drop in the Ocean’. Finally Collette Warren steps up alongside Philth for the deeply reflective closing track ‘Stuck in a Loop’, the latest in a long line of collaborations between the pair.

Philth proves with another huge delivery that he’s able to take you through a range of emotions, something which his music has always endeavoured to do. ‘Moments in Time’ also highlights Philth’s enviable work ethic, something amplified once more by a production standard which is second to none.
