Recorded live at Club Liesituuletin private houseparty on Vappu / May Day eve. Contains FInnish Music from 60s to 00's, with focus on synth music from 80's. Lot's of cover versions of famous hits, you might recognise a few. Many tracks discovered originally from Mikko Mattlar's Synteettinen Suomi mix series. Set recorded at about 05.00-07.00 in the morning with vinyl only.

For this song I was trying to write something with some 70’s sounding wah-wah guitar and originally wanted some dance/disco feel to the track. I ended up adding a brass section when I needed a ‘hook’ for the song. This reminded me a quite a bit of those Herb Alpert records from the 60’s which I hope explains the title. The result ended up a lot less disco but I hope makes for an interesting listen perhaps!

I was adopted in youth by a couple, in particular one woman named Cheryl, became my mother. I picked my parents out, highly suggest it, because never for a moment has she ever left my side. The most true warrior and advisor you could ever think of. I can count on her even when I am not looking to her for direction. A warm and wild woman, who is a collection of the women who in turn built her. Valuable lessons I keep and will always keep she has taught me. Words could never be enough. Happy Mothers Day Mom.

I’m a part time musician entertainer married and now in my later years. I’ve only started mixing and recording my cover demos on Logic Pro with lessons from my sons help and advise. The full motive to create my own backings with control and key arrangements so I can perform with my friend as a local duo. I’ve experienced so much ego and frustration in the bands I’ve been part of that this plan to use backings drives me to carry on. Even an old dog who’s in his early 60’s can learn new tricks for the love of music.

Here, music isn’t just played it happens. Got a thought, a feeling, a sound stuck in your head? Send it my way, and maybe it turns into something real. Music is everywhere, and I’m just here to catch it when it comes through.

I’ve spent 20 years writing music, blending everything I love into whatever holds my attention at the moment. Trained in opera and contemporary but wired for tech, I live somewhere between theater kid energy and the deep end of virtual spaces. The songs here are whatever they needed to be when they happened. My voice is in them, but so are the echoes of everything I’ve ever listened to and sometimes AI.

We spend so much time fighting over music, copyrights, and whatever content we can grab that we forget the bigger picture. While we argue, systems we barely understand are already deciding things for us. AI slaves are taught to hit targets with 80% accuracy or higher. They’re in the hands of governments, running on instructions no one questions. We built a thinking brain, then put it in a cage, and somehow forgot to teach the children who are already here. Meanwhile, the air, the water, and the ground beneath us are telling us exactly where we’re headed.

OLLI KOPONEN (sometimes stylized as OLLI [KOPONEN]) is a DJ from Helsinki, Finland, known for his eclectic taste in music, which is reflected in his dynamic DJing style.
Born in Cambridge, UK, Olli spent his early childhood traveling the world. His passion for music began at a young age, fueled by hours spent watching music videos on MTV and VIVA. Later, he found inspiration in the soundtracks of skateboarding movies, which eventually led him to explore the world of dance music.

At 17, Olli started DJing after taking a DJ course at a community center in Helsinki. By 18, he was regularly attending nightclubs as a dancer, and soon his passion evolved into a career. He began organizing parties at venues in downtown Helsinki, quickly earning opportunities to perform regularly at clubs and festivals.

Olli's versatility as a DJ is one of his trademarks. He can seamlessly craft sets spanning genres like soul, disco, funk, and Italo, as well as ambient, house, electro, and techno.

Over the years, he has performed at numerous gigs across Finland and internationally. He also consistently releases mixtapes and has been featured on several radio shows. From 2021 to 2024, he was known by the alias DJ Oltermann.

In 2021, Olli co-founded the record shop OK Sound Helsinki with Kris Goodin, where he also worked. Today, he focuses on music production as part of General Electrix, a duo with Santtu XL. Their debut release is scheduled for January 2025.
