While it's one of the more dramatic titles I've associated with a new mix, it's not without good reason.  The process of compiling and delivering this mix has worked wonders for my mental health over the last little while.

For the last 20 years, music has served as my primary creative outlet, however; recent opportunities to indulge in the craft or completely immerse myself in a creative project haven't been as abundantly available nor really possible.  (Most new parents or those working in high-pressure professional endeavours might share the same insight.)

So I did a thing.  Indeed, my first thing in a little while...

Put simply, this was me, pinching available pockets of time, throwing on some music and pressing record while doing so.  There was little rhyme nor reason to its execution, rather than embracing an opportunity to process some newer purchases or indulgently enjoying a worn favourite.  (My Ecler Nuo 5 being a notable addition into the latter category.)

I completed this over a number of weekends—on some days, I contributed only half an hour; on others, a little longer—picking up from exactly the point I had finished during the previous window.

It's raw, honest, largely unedited—though, I obviously had to join each session recording—and it's all me, doing something I genuinely enjoy and have done for some time.

I hope this translates into a reasonable journey for you, the listener—I'll continue to enjoy it nonetheless.

And then there's the collaboration of Graef with Oye Records honcho Markus Lindner aka Delfonic. Also with this remix of "Delirio En Fa Menor" (off the 1976 LP "Mas Alla De Las Estrellas") you can literally feel the affinity towards what we used to call leftfield hiphop. A badass beat framework binds the ever collapsing samples of the original. It's like Graef and Delfonic hold a picture of the original tune in their hands and then tearing it in half, just to piece it back together again back-to-front. This is adulteration by permission. Or to put it in another way: This is how you get away with murder.

Glenn Astro currently resides in Essen and has spent half his life producing and DJ'ing. He started out with Hip-Hop and later got into ultra soulful House music.

Glenn returns with another gang of grooves. His warm, soul-infused "Hologram" EP is  is forthcoming on WotNot Music and is set to be released on vinyl March 23rd and digitally early April.

None other than Henry Wu (22a) was called in for help to remix "Love Is Gone", which he does with a delightful, jazz-instilled flip. Since we have been following both closely for a while, we are stoked to exclusively premiere this particular track of the Hologram EP.

Delfonic started his professional DJ career in 2004 and has meanwhile played every single club, shack and party in Berlin, and quite a bit in Germany and Europe too. He is holding two residencies, one weekly at Gretchen (the infamous follow up to the Icon Club) and a monthly one called “deep riot” at Farbfernseher. His residency at Icon/Gretchen led him to play very successful sets alongside internationally acclaimed DJ's as Coldcut, Amon Tobin, Bonobo, FaltyDL, Jazzanova, Flying Lotus and many more.

Markus is also vital in providing (Berlin's) Djs with music via his record store OYE in Prenzlauer Berg and organizing the incredible Berlin record store day once a year (in November).

Also he is Label Manager of Box aus Holz, Torben & Money $ex Records, which are related to OYE Records.

In addition to that he produces music for advertising (with his friend Boris...) but we just got the promise from him, that he will work more on club music from now on, too.

A busy guy that will hit you with his experienced, flawless flow and the skills of a Hip Hop veteran but a openminded music taste including grooves from Reggae to Hip Hop, from UK Bass to House and from Dub Step to Jungle and classic Funk, Soul & Disco.

It´s all about the Groove . . .

After a long decade at  OYE records store he left the business to become a 100% touring DJ and also joining Kapote Toy Tonics to do a series of Dance Jazz Edits (Illegal Jazz on Toy Tonics) which create a massive buzz in the new house and funky dance world (support from Gilles Peterson, Honey Djoon and many others)

Delfonic applies his broad knowledge of music styles to almost any setting, and is renowned for blending multiple genres, eras and disciplines throughout his sets. In the spirit of defecting from the much-maligned third-person bio approach: in short, I am a Sydney-based DJ who specialises in the sounds of deeper house and disco.  I take delight in playing a solid warm-up set and revel in the success of watching a room build around it.

Since making my club debut as a fresh-faced eighteen-year-old at 'Thursday Delights' at the Icebox—a popular trance and hard dance event of the time—I have been lucky enough to play right across Sydney, enjoying bookings at Sounds on Sunday, S*A*S*H, Chinese Laundry, Plastic, Café del Mar, The Burdekin and Candy's Apartment; as well as larger-scale events such as Big Day Out and Harbour Party NYE.

In the process, I've also been fortunate enough to support some of the leading names in dance music—both locally and from around the world—including LCD Soundsystem, Booka Shade, Subb-an, Chymera, Sonja Moonear, Luke Chable, Jasper James, YokoO, Kenny Glasgow, Darren Emerson, Mark Dynamix and Kid Kenobi, to name just a few.

I like to put on the promoter hat, too, hosting and playing at events of my own: 'Attic' being my main project.

Since its inception, the Attic brand has enjoyed success in its standalone parties—for which we've toured renowned house and disco artists, Fouk, Nachtbraker, Folamour and Laurence Guy, to name a few—as well as appearing all around Sydney for invitational takeovers, radio appearances, and exclusive showcase sets.

Away from the club dancefloor, you might also find me playing an extended-length set in a low-lit bar, exercising the deeper, more eclectic selections of my record box—lower, slower and groovy, just the way I like it!

For ten years, I was heavily involved with the Internet radio game, hosting successful programs, 'Friday Night Live' and 'The M Shift'; on Indiesoundz and NSB Radio networks, respectively.  The M Shift, which ran for six years, specialised in breaks, house and drum 'n' bass, and was regularly enjoyed by thousands of live listeners, downloaders, and Podcast-listeners alike.

As above, I pride myself on playing a good warm-up set—added again for emphasis!—and believe it to be somewhat of a lost art form in this current age.

I also don't mind getting in the studio occasionally, but that facet, for now, is still very much a work in progress!
