It's the inside that counts,

we all know that. So when MA1 sent us his musical self description 'Inside Me' we fell in love without even meeting him person. Well, to be honest, listing to his show on London's one and only  Rinse.FM for some time, to his DJ-sets filled with powerful warm bass and infectious grooves, it would have shattered our trust in Intelligent Design if his productions were shit.

Roska (Kicks And Snares) MA1's partner in crime at Rinse breaks some bones here and cooks up a tasty soup of all ingredients 'Inside Me'. Caution: some funky kicks and snares flying over your head.

'Bridge The Gap' of Techno, House, UK Funky and Bass. This bridge leads directly to the dancefloor. A never-ending bassline love story so sunny and fresh, so mean and merciless. It's true, it's already in your set!

To fill the remix gap we asked our No Brainer newbie TAFO and he delivered. Head-nodding, ass-shakin' face bun - bass fun. We pray to the almightily that you didn't miss out on TAFO's East West EP which just dropped.

Geburtstage, das sind die Alterskreuzungen auf der Autobahn des Lebens, an denen nostalgische Seufzer auf fideles Kichern übers Jetzt treffen, während man gleichzeitig neugierig nach vorn blinzelt, um vielleicht erspähen zu können, was da noch so kommen mag. Das geht den Menschen wie den Clubs, also haben wir anlässlich des 23. Geburtstags der Distillery diesen Wirrwarr der Gefühle in Musik übersetzt, unsere roten Marty Mc Fly Westen angezogen und eine Zeitmaschine von einem Line Up zusammengestellt. Please fasten your seatbelts.
Doc Scott legt nicht nur schon mindestens so lange auf, wie es die Distillery gibt, sondern hat sich dazu auch als Producer, Labelboss von 31 Recordings und mit seiner Podcastreihe "Future Beats" einen Namen gemacht, der synonym für premium steht. Zuletzt bewies er sich mit der ebenfalls "Future Beats" betitelten Compilation als versierter Kurator, dessen Erfahrung sich in charmanter Unnahbarkeit und Unerschrockenheit manifestiert, ohne sich dabei mit Aro- oder Ignoranz selbst zu torpedieren. Die Augen weit auf und den Blick nach vorn gerichtet, ist Doc Scott einer derjenigen, die zwar schon lange dabei sind, sich aber nie darauf ausruhen. Es ist genau diese Mentalität, die ihn stilsicher zwischen Oldskool Flavours und der Zukunftsmusik navigieren lässt - welcome on board, captain!
DJ Booga ist da ein ganz ähnliches Kaliber. Seit 20 Jahren prägt er die Leipziger Bassszene maßgeblich mit und hat erst in diesem Jahr wieder eine Schippe drauf gelegt, als er sein eigenes Label Defrostatica an den Start brachte. Mit den beiden ersten Releases legt der den Finger direkt an den Puls der Zeit, der irgendwo zwischen Footwork, Jungle und Halftempo Drum and Bass schlägt.
Als Dritte im Bunde und zum ersten Mal in der Distillery dürfen wir Uta begrüßen, die sich als DJ, Radiomoderatorin und Mitveranstalterin der viel beachteten Rec Room Partys im OHM einen großen, über Genregrenzen hinausreichenden Ruf erworben hat. Ihre Vorliebe für alles, was unter den Begriff UK Bass fällt, lassen wir sie nur allzu gern weiträumig ausleben. Alles kann, nichts muss - so werden die besten Sets geboren.
Dubbalot, der Boundless Beatz Youngster und It's Yours Redakteur, mischt nun schon seit mehreren Jahren kräftig mit, wenn es um Drum and Bass in Leipzig geht. Wir dürfen gespannt sein, was uns nach seiner langen Sommerpause erwarten wird. Die eine oder andere Inspiration vom alljährlichen Bassheads-Klassentreffen auf Sardinien hat er bestimmt mit zurück geschmuggelt.
Komplettiert wird die Besatzung an diesem Abend von MC Amon Bay und seiner Stimme am Mic, die zu gleichen Teilen für Soul und Energie steht. Mit Rewinds in ein Neues - let the journey begin.

Vielen ist Dubbalot mittlerweile ein Begriff in Sachen Drum and Bass in Leipzig. Seit 2010 ist er aktiv als DJ unterwegs, indem er zusammen mit seinem Freund Sneakless die Kombo KF-Soundsystem gründete. Ihre ersten Auftritte hatten sie mit Beat Gourmets, aber auch die Vibes Ambassadors pushten die beiden und somit erschlossen sich viele musikalische Bekanntschaften. Im Sommer 2013 ist Dubbalot dann Boundless Beatz beigetreten und das ist das Beste was ihm passieren konnte. Er konnte sich musikalisch und organisatorisch so einbringen und verwirklichen, wie er es schon immer wollte. So hat er mit audite und MC Amon Bay einige, immer noch in Erinnerung bleibende Abende auf die Beine gestellt mit Größen wie z.B. Enei, Command Strange oder Chimpo. Sein Sound entwickelte sich über die Jahre sehr und so hat er einen für sich eigenen Style geschaffen. Melodisch aber auch melancholisch, ravig aber auch halftime passt er sich sehr gerne den Veranstaltungen an und geht auf das Publikum ein, aber nicht indem er spielt was alle hören wollen, sondern eher auf die Art „ Hör dir das mal an, lass dich drauf ein, es könnte dir gefallen, genieß es“. Obendrauf hat er mit Boundless Beatz im Januar auch noch ein Label gegründet, was eine Menge Zeit und Arbeit in Anspruch nimmt. Die Belohnung dafür sind repräsentative Releases, jede Menge gutes Feedback und gut besuchte Parties. Aber nicht nur musikalisch, sondern auch Kulturpolitisch ist Dubbalot nicht nur interessiert, sondern auch engagiert. So kam es dazu, dass er seit 2012 Organisationsmitglied bei der Global Space Odyssey (GSO) ist. Auch bei der jährlichen Kulturpolitischen Demonstration der GSO in Leipzig ist er jedes Mal unterstützend an Ort und Stelle. Aber von allem noch nicht genug, ist Dubbalot auch ein sehr aktives Mitglied bei IT’S YOURS seit November 2013. Tolle Radiosendungen folgten, gut geschriebene und lange Rezensionen und vor allem viele gute Interviews, die uns Interpreten wirklich näher gebracht haben. Er stellt ihnen Fragen, die auch die Leser gestellt hätten, und so entstanden viele gute Interviews mit Größen wie Alix Perez, DBridge, Stray oder Sam Binga. Abschließend kann man sagen, Dubbalot hört nicht Musik, sondern fühlt sie, in jeder Ader seines Körpers, will sie den Leuten näher bringen und versucht, dass er bei den Leuten die selben Gefühle erwirken kann, wie die Musik bei ihm bewirkt.
Falls ihr euch jetzt fragt was dieser Typ noch alles so macht, wenn da überhaupt noch Platz ist: gute Bücher lesen, lange, viel und weit wandern und einfach die Musik genießen und ins Leben mit einfließen lassen. Ein nicht wirklich schlechter Blickwinkel.
