"From the Frontlines" is an ADL podcast. It is hosted by ADL New York/New Jersey Director Scott Richman and focuses on ADL's efforts to fight antisemitism and all forms of hate in the United States and around the world. In this battle, fighting extremists is a key component. ADL’s Center on Extremism uses many tools to wage this fight including hitting extremists where it hurts - in the wallet. That is, finding a way to go after funding sources is critical. One such funding source is crowdfunding, and ADL has just released a report showing how extremists use this as a way to fund their activities. Mark Dwyer is an  Extremism Funding Investigator in ADL’s Center on Extremism and the author of this important report. He joined this edition of "From the Frontlines" to describes the report's findings and to suggest possible responses to curb extremist activity. "From the Frontlines" is an ADL podcast which brings listeners to the frontline in the battle against antisemitism and hate.

It seems that with every news item, an active misinformation and disinformation campaign pops up almost immediately to fit a skewed narrative or agenda. Battling against this is a major frontline in the fight against hate. We certainly have seen this in the wake of the horrific Hamas attack against Israel on 10/7, and as we approach the November 2024 election, this only has the potential to get worse. 

This past week, the ADL activist group known as ADL New Jersey decided to host a very important webinar on this topic with two ADL experts, moderated by Scott Richman, the host of this podcast. It was called, “Misinformation and Disinformation: What Can You Do?” and an edited version is now available here as a podcast. 

The experts on this program were Sara Aniano and Daniel Kelley. Sara is a Disinformation Analyst at the ADL’s Center on Extremism, and Daniel Kelley is the Director of Strategy and Operations and Acting Head of the ADL Center for Technology and Society (CTS).

Since the horrific events of 10/7, we have seen a virtual explosion of anti-Israel activism on our college campuses, and its most radical expressions have left Jewish students feeling angry, unwelcome and at times unsafe. This is not new. What is the new is the horrific scale of the activity. Every September, ADL takes the temperature of this anti-Israel activity with its report entitled “Annual Assessment of Anti-Israel Activity on Campus.” This year’s report has just come out, and it is the subject of this podcast. Its author is Lauren Post. She is an analyst in ADL’s Center on Extremism focused on researching anti-Israel and anti-Zionist trends and developments, and she is the guest on this show.

From the Frontlines: How Bad Is Anti-Israel Activity on US Campuses?

"From the Frontlines" is an ADL podcast which brings listeners to the frontline in the battle against antisemitism and hate.

Some people see the frontline for antisemitism as the antisemitism on the left. This is especially true post 10/7. Others feel that the threat from the right is what the Jewish people need to worry about. Indeed, the Jewish Voter Resource Center released the results of a survey just a few days ago which found that nearly half of Jewish voters said right-wing individuals and groups were a bigger threat in terms of antisemitism, while 34% viewed left-wing groups as a bigger problem. Clearly a big divide. A few weeks ago, ADL New York/New Jersey held a webinar which focused on just this issue by hosting a webinar entitled, “Is Antisemitism Worse on the Right or the Left?” The host for this podcast, Scott Richman, interviewed Oren Segal about his thoughts on this issue. Oren is the Senior Vice President for Counter Extremism and Intelligence. It was a rich and engaging conversation, and it is now being released as a podcast.
