Un deceniu în urmă, înainte de moartea sa, Hitchens ne-a avertizat de tendințele ipocrite ale societății, fiind un critic dur al terorismului islamic și al cenzurii opiniilor “controversate“ în presa liberală. Având cancer în stadiu terminal, el a scris într-un eseu în 2011:

“Opinia mea este foarte simplă. Dreptul celorlalți la libera exprimare face parte din al meu. Dacă vocea cuiva este redusă la tăcere, atunci sunt lipsit de dreptul de a-l auzi. (…) Libertatea de exprimare constă în a putea spune oamenilor ceea ce poate nu doresc să audă și că trebuie să se extindă, mai presus de toate, asupra celor care gândesc diferit este, pentru mine, evident”.

I have the utmost respect for both this man and his wife. Should she ever one day stumble across this video series, I hope she does not feel that she was blindsided, that we were making fun of her, or anything disrespectful like that. In my view, the value of these interactions was far to valuable and warranted pushing the envelope by sharing this discussion. I hope they both feel the same way. Perhaps we can return the favor by offering some guidance in the video comments below.
