Il nous a quittés le 29 août dernier à l’âge de 85 ans. Rainford Hugh Perry, plus connu sous le nom de Lee « Scratch » Perry laisse le dub et le reggae bien plus audacieux et abouti qu’à l’époque de ses premiers succès jamaïcains en 1969. Tour à tour, arrangeur, musicien, chanteur, ingénieur du son et surtout, immense producteur, The Upsetter (l’emmerdeur) a changé la face du genre par son génie et sa folle créativité artistique. Grâce à son travail de mixage, il a aussi donné ses lettres de noblesse aux versions (face B) qu’il a su rendre aussi attractives, sinon plus, que les morceaux chantés de la face A. De ses premiers titres en tant que producteurs à ses classiques sortis de la moiteur du Black Ark studio jusqu’à ses collaborations plus récentes avec Mad Professor ou Adrian Sherwood, retour non exhaustif sur le colossal catalogue de ce prodige du dub, en 27 titres 100% vinyles.

At the age of 15, Jörg Söls, better known as Dj Koolbreak started doing his thing as a dj. In 2004 he became a member of G-Spot Sound, one of austrias biggest reggae and dancehall soundsystems. Since than he is rocking clubs weekly and he is famous for his mixtapes and remixes. Lion’s Den is a label, a sound system, a studio and a production and promotion force from Berlin, Germany.

Started by the musical activist Ras Lion a few years ago Lion’s Den has constantly been moving forward on all aspects of delivering finest in conscious music ever since – in the studio, on vinyl or at a dance.
Always on a musical mission to merge creative energies – connecting different people, different influences and inspiration – Lion’s Den is working with various vocalists, musicians and producers from all over the world.

The record label is specialized in Dub, Steppas, Reggae, and other music in the same terrain on vinyl and digitally.

A fine selection of records, tuff dubs and conscious lyrics, some heavyweight speakerboxes and amplifiers and a deep love for the music combined provide for positive vibes and a special experience at any session near or far when Lion’s Den come with their sound – Ras Lion (selekta / operator / engineer), mostly joined on lyrical duties by the multilingual MCs/singers Kali Green and konTa or guests.
The agenda: word, sound and power.
 
Another strong force in the Lion’s Den is designer, selekta & producer Darkwing Dub from Austria with some great visual and musical artillery.

New name, same page..
Reggae Jup was the page I've started a few years back. The name came from Reggae J amaica UP coming. But I felt it was time for a change. As I'm working on something behind the scenes which carries the name Irie Wired, the choice on Irie Wired Reggae was an easy one. 
I like to thank you all, for liking RJ and support your favorite artists. And may 2021 shower you with health, blessings, reggae and love.

Since 2005 Phoenix Music International Ltd has been building a catalogue of music that crosses genres, eras, geographical lines, scenes and cities. It began with Belfern and Deviant, and since has taken in Gut, Telstar, Jet Star, Resist, Collins Classics, Renaissance and Azuli. A proper in-house publishing company now exists, as does a team of nine music lovers of all tastes and flavours.

At the heart is a simple philosophy – we do the best we can for the artists, writers and labels that make up our catalogue. “The best” may mean tracking down digital royalties from an independent release in Mexico, it may mean syncing a track to a Hollywood blockbuster, or it may mean actually tracking down an artist to tell them we have royalties for them. 

So as it says on our twitter, we acquire, we license, we sell, we publish, we sync and we pay. Simple really.
