Multi Instrumentalist Medavon DeRaj'e of LOCKJAW and Murder Love God talks with Alex about his latest LOCKJAW release "Reverent" and we listen to 3 all new tracks. Alex also catches up with our executive producer in Baton Rouge Too Dark Mark.

With their latest release, Reverent, Lockjaw are bringing the Hell Rock revolution back into the minds of the masses. Long time Milwaukee Industrial Rock veterans, Lockjaw, led by their charismatic frontman, Medavon DeRaj’e, have returned to the midwest’s Industrial Landscape and are determined to make their presence felt. In dealing with all of the of the challenges and emotions that the year long pandemic brought, Medavon wanted to re-invent the band not only musically, but also lyrically, as he strived to deliver more positive and deeper messages in an effort to combat the previous years darkness and feelings of isolation. To help with this transformation Medavon decided to reach out to well known engineer Ted Jensen (Vast, Mastodon, Evanescence, the Faint) to master the upcoming release. Ted’s mastering highlighted the bands new found 80’s Darkwave meets Industrial sound. The EP boasts not only the aforementioned Cars cover, it also delivers its second single in the lead track “ Never Say Never” and the Bauhaus inspired “Keep On Trying”. Plans are underway to shoot videos to supplement the upcoming singles off of the EP

Lockjaw became a household name throughout the Midwest thanks in part for sharing the stage with national acts including Mudvayne, Type O Negative, Damage Plan, Wednesday 13, Hell Yeah, Prong, KMFDM, Powerman 5000, Mindless Self Indulgence, Lords of Acid and also providing direct support for multiple sold out shows for MARILYN MANSON.

Since starting out in 1998, Lockjaw has released 14 albums to date on Dark Drug records with their previous effort being 2019’s “Drowner”. Lockjaw’s “Bored Again” from the CD “Dirty Minds and Smiling Faces”(2004) is featured on the X-Box360 game “Dead Rising”.

The MKULTRASOUND PodCast Two Year Anniversary Show with LOCKJAW's Medavon DeRaj'e

Alex Zander and guest host Dawn Wattles catch up with an old friend Ron Marks this Sunday afternoon May 2nd 2021.

Subsonic, which was founded in 2000 by former Celtic Frost guitarist Ron Marks, has released several previous albums on the DSN label, with Trifecta in 2012, and Honeycomb in 2014, as well as the comedy project Sour Pup in 2016.

Ron Marks is a third-generation musician and composer. He began playing drums at age five and guitar at fifteen, which inspired him to compose original works. A home recording studio provided the creative forum necessary to develop and record more than 500 original and cover tracks.

Marks performed as lead guitarist for Celtic Frost in 1987 and toured the UK and US with the group in support of the Into The Pandemonium release. He is also credited as a co-writer on their 1990 album Vanity/Nemesis.

Bile is an American industrial metal project based in New York City. Although there have been many different members throughout the band's career, Krztoff is the songwriting, recording and conceptual leader. The group has performed with as many as 11 and as small as two people on stage. The early shows in 1993–95 New York included a dominatrix and fire-breather. In 2013 they added Brendin Ross to the lineup as a keyboard player. In 2014 they introduced former Agnostic Front drummer Steve Gallo.

The  third studio album by the American glam metal band L.A. Guns, released in 1991. While no track from the album topped the charts (and the band's success declined soon afterwards as their style fell out of commercial favor), Hollywood Vampires presents various shades of the band and is representative of the late 1980s/early 1990s heavy metal scene, with riff-laden songs and big choruses on every song. The meticulous production gives the album a sound typical of the period — a full sound, with many background harmony vocals, layered guitars and additional keyboard tracks.

The Joy Thieves have come a long way since their ‘This Will Kill That’ debut way back in the pre-pandemic times. But troubled times make for troubled art, and the band’s first full length offering sees them in violent, acerbic form.

Departing from their usual modus operandi of featuring a different vocalist on every track; this time around The Joy Thieves are fronted by the mercurial Chris Connelly (Ministry,  RevCo, Fini Tribe, The Damage Manual) on every track. The songs are also harder, faster and angrier than ever before, with Connelly describing the album as; “… Everything I wished I could have done with Ministry… It’s like being hosed down with lava!”

The Joy Thieves have always enjoyed an ever-changing line-up, and this time around is no exception. New to the party are drummer Big Paul Ferguson (Killing Joke), guitarist Chris Haskett (The Rollins Band, Iggy Pop, David Bowie), guitarist John Haggerty (Naked Raygun, Pegboy), drummer Joe Haggerty (The Effigies, Pegboy), songwriter Scott-David Allen (The Burying Kind, A covenant of Thorns) and Grant Sutton (Monster Trux, The Party Downers, Jumpsuit)

My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult (often shortened to Thrill Kill Kult or TKK) is an American electronic industrial rock band originally based in Chicago and founded by Groovie Mann (born Frankie Nardiello) and Buzz McCoy (born Marston Daley). They became known in the 1980s as pioneers of the industrial music genre – although by the early 1990s they had changed to a more disco-oriented sound – and as a frequent target of censorship groups, including the PMRC, which objected to the band's humorous and satirical references to Satan, Jesus and sex in their song lyrics and stage shows.

During the early 1990s, Thrill Kill Kult had several hits on the U.S. dance club and alternative charts. They also contributed songs to several movie soundtracks and appeared in the 1994 film The Crow. The band has continued to record and tour with a rotating lineup in addition to core members Mann and McCoy.

MKULTRASOUND was created by Alex Zander (Chicago) founder of MK ULTRA Magazine who serves as host and producer along with Executive Producer Too Dark Mark (Baton Rouge) video editing for YouTube by various editors. The show is recorded in Chicago at Studio D-Ablo and with production in Baton Rouge at ALAB Media.

As founder of MK ULTRA Magazine Alex Zander acted as publisher, editor, promoter, sales executive and made all distributions deals and oversaw all staff operations. 

Established in 1995 mk ultra magazine was an born when alternative music became mainstream this publication became considered, dark, and or underground or part of a subculture, which is in part true, but the body of work itself defies definition. 

Once dubbed the most anti establishment publication of it's kind mk ultra magazine always danced on the edge of what was considered acceptable by the staus quo, and it always will. 

MK ULTRA started out as only  a 28 page newsprint tabloid with a small run of only 250 copies published in Pittsburgh, PA. By the summer of 1995 (and two issues) MK ULTRA received national recognition and subscriptions over the world. Till 2000 it was available free. 

By 2001 MK ULTRA was nearly 100 pages per issue with full color glossy cover and centerfold and worldwide distribution with Tower Records and Desert Moon Publications becoming distributed worldwide and also sponsored 2 national tours headlined by Invisible Records artist, Pigface. . 

The cover price was $5 per issue. 

In 1999 they produced and hosted an hour long weekly radio program, MK ULTRASOUND on FM station Rebel Radio WJKL 94.3. Later that year it was picked up by Flagstaff Arizona's LOUD RADIO Network KLOD 100.1 FM and began syndication as the MK ULTRASOUND Radio Network known for it's cutting edge non mainstream music, dark and sometimes controversial humor as well as in depth live uncensored interviews. The show ran until early 2002.
