I have had a fascination with the song Amazing Grace for many years. I produced 4 different versions or arrangements and released those on four different CD's over the years. I call this arrangement the funky experimental version.

This song answers the question the title asks.  The "Shamash" is the middle candle on a Jewish menorah.  The menorah is the candleabra that  features a candle for each of the 8 nights of Hanukkah, with the middle candle, the "Shamash."

I've been writing songs since I was 10 years old (2 chords back then).  I've now produced 10 projects with original songs.  I got to travel the world and band members became family. I hope one or two of you like my music. My songs are about the things I've seen and felt over a lifetime.

Susan Salidor is an award-winning children’s music composer and performer with the heart of a teacher.  She has released eight albums of original and traditional music and is the author, along with Ukrainian illustrator Natalka Soiko, of two picture books for young children, I’ve Got Peace In My Fingers and One Little Act of Kindness (Sideline Ink Publishing), based on two of her most widely-known original songs.

I write choral and solo settings of psalm texts, church service music, descants and hymn reharmonizations.  Background in classical choral music, Episcopal (Anglican) tradition, and South Indian classical music. St. Albans School, Wesleyan University. Psalms posted here include: 4, 6, 15, 18, 19, 22, 23, 25, 34, 36, 39, 47, 48, 49, 51, 54, 66, 72, 91, 100, 115, 130, 146, 148. Some were commissioned. At least half have been performed.
