Måske har du set dele af den hest Bjørn Nørgaard parterede på en sneklædt mark udenfor Kirke-Hyllinge og omhyggeligt konserverede i sylteglas med formalinvæske på ARoS eller SMK?

Baggrunden for hesteofringen var Louisianas store udstilling Tabernakel i 1970, hvor tidens hotteste avantgardekunstnere som Joseph Beuys, Bjørn Nørgaard, Poul Gernes, Per Kirkeby, Peter Louis-Jensen og Arthur Køpcke var inviteret.

Som forberedelse havde Bjørn Nørgaard indkøbt den 12-år gamle hoppe Tulle og døbt den Røde Fane. Planen var at udstille den på museet, hvor han havde opført en stald og opstillet 400 sylteglas, men Justitsministeriet og politiet i Helsingør nedlagde forbud mod udstilling af levende dyr, og museet modsatte sig at lægge rum til dissektion af hesten.

Da Louisiana havde modsat sig at vise ofringen, blev museet erstattet af et samarbejde med Ekstra Bladet, der på det tidspunkt var Danmarks største dagblad. Og dagen efter aktionen (Den 31. januar) kunne Ekstrabladet bringe fotos og reportage fra aktionen, hvor Lene Adler Petersen iklædt en kappe og bærende på et sort kors går i cirkler om hesten.

Aktionen rejste en storm af protester i medierne, fra læserbreve til ledere, og kunstnerne modtog trusler og måtte for en periode flytte fra deres bolig med deres datter. 
Efterfølgende brugte kunstnerparret forargelsen til at starte en diskussion om den manglende protest mod de menneskelige ofre i Vietnam og Biafra, der i 1967-70 var ramt af borgerkrig, sygdom og hungersnød.

I dag kan de lange rækker af sylteglas måske ses som et billede på kunsten, som dør når den kommer i glas på museet.
