Hey guys!! Well I've been plugging away at this White Label Classic Trance series and managed to finally record a take that I liked last Sunday, so here it is, after something like 15 attempts to record it and endless rearranging and being unsatisfied and going back to the drawing board again and again messing with it haha.. It's always worth the effort though, and I have really appreciated all the nice comments in support of this classics series, as well as it's personally a lot of fun for me to mix this stuff, from back when Trance was still pretty new and raw, and all the memories it conjures up from perhaps a simpler, happier time, for me at least. BTW, I already have White Label 4 almost figured out, and figure I have enough classic trance that I am still passionate about to keep the series going for at least another 3-4 iterations, so if you like this stuff please let me know in the comments, and/or if there are tracks that you miss from yesteryear that you'd like to possibly hear in this series. My first time ever opening a club for a well known trance artist. I felt I wasn't worthy of banging it out yet so I kept it pure and back to the roots of what made me start my trance journey. Emergency Medical Trance 037 LIVE Opening ORA for SUNNY LAX

On, Saturday, April 29th, I was beyond honored to be the primary support for easily one of my all-time favorite Trancers, Anjuna star and true prodigy Trance pioneer from the earlier days, Hungarian DJ/record producer, Levente Márton, better know by his stage name, SUNNY LAX. This is one of those “pinch myself am I dreaming??” moments because this is the 3rd time I’ve been on the opening roster for Sunny Lax, which is 3x more than I could have even hoped for haha, and it’s always such a pleasure to see this genuinely friendly, humble, and sweet fellow again, let alone warm up the decks for him. What an honor!! I was joined by Bryan Kyes on the opening crew, a new edition to the Seattle Trance DJ Fam, and Bryan kicked us off with a classic trance set, and I carried on from there with this, a mixture of euphoric Progressive and Trance, and threw in a little side excursion of some beatsy techno tracks because I was in the mood to hear some driving bass, hope you don’t mind haha!! Anyway, as usual, it was a totally fun night at Ora and the crowd was amazing and the Anjuna Fam love was in the air. Hope you enjoy the set, and also just a heads-up that I am pretty far along on the next iteration of the "White Label Trance Classics" series, # 4, hoping to record it this weekend.. And lastly, I'm excited to be opening for rising Japanese big room Trance star, the absolutely lovely, RINALY, at Ora Nightclub on May 20th, so be looking for that one later this month.. Opening set for SUNNY LAX, Ora Nightclub, Seattle, April 29th, 2023

Hey guys, well here it is, # 4 on my Classic Trance series, White Label!! I’ve been working on this one for weeks and finally recorded a take that I liked last Saturday on May 13th, and have been listening to it non-stop ever since haha. I really had to play with the track order on this one, but I think I finally got the right blend of vocal and instrumental uplifting trance, and if you’re a fan of the classics you’ll for sure recognize some of these gems from yesteryear, as well as maybe hear a few that are a little more off the beaten path that you may have missed, like Terradia - Drowning in Dreams, I bought that on MP3 in the mid-2000’s and I don’t believe it’s still available anywhere, was so great to  dig that one out and hear it again!! So many of these other tracks I haven’t listened to in 10 or 15 years, so many huge tracks and artists from yesteryear that give me goosebumps still to this day.. It's actually really shocking, the shelf-life on all these songs, especially once I’ve gone out and repurchased them as lossless files, they (to me) sound even better now than they perhaps did back then, they just keep getting better with age. Anyway, I had a lot of fun with the journey to record this set and I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed playing it!! I’ll probably be able to make 2-3 more of these before I run out of classics that I am passionate about, so look for those over the following months. And BTW, I will be opening for Japanese rising star Trancer, the lovely, RINALY, this weekend at ORA Nightclub in Seattle, and I will be playing some Uplifting Trance for that one in the low 130's, a bit faster than I usually get to play live, so CAN’T WAIT for that one haha!! “White Label ” a Classic Trance demo mix: 004, recorded live May 13th, 2023

On Saturday, May 20th, I was extremely honored to be the primary opener for Japanese DJ and music producer, RINALY, at Ora Nightclub, Seattle. You may have seen Rinaly at one of the giant Trance festivals around the globe, and she has performed in renowned clubs such as Zouk Singapore, Colosseum Jakarta, as well as major international events such as Amsterdam Dance Event, EDC Las Vegas, Japan & China. She’s been producing Trance for the past decade and seen several of her singles hit the top Trance charts on Beatport. Rinaly in fact flew directly from this year’s EDC in Las Vegas to Seattle to play with us at Ora that night, and it was so cool to meet her in person. She was quite humble and sweet (and also very tall!), in fact on my last track I noticed something out of the corner of my eye and she was waiting at the bottom of the DJ booth stairs for me to invite her up, which was hilarious to me and very cute; most headliners just barge their way onto the stage and shove us openers aside. Haha just kidding (mostly) but I thought that was very humble and endearing. Anyway, since Rinaly plays uplifting Trance, 138-140+, the promoter told me I could play up to 136, which we rarely get to play in clubs. So as you’ll soon hear, I took full advantage of that and cranked it up to 136 for most of the set and got to play a lot of my favorite go-to Trance artists, such as Temple One, Ultimate, DJ T.H., and Alex Wright, plus a bunch of other amazingly uplifting tracks, and kicked it off with the brand new Myon remix of JODA’s “Breaking Down the Walls” which I was SOOOO excited to hear on the club sound system , such a crazy awesome track. Opening set for RINALY, Ora Nightclub, Seattle, Saturday, May 20th, 2023

Hey guys! Well, I’ve been working in the background on this next iteration of the “White Label” Classic Trance series, number 5, for the past month or so, and every time I record another one of these I worry whether I’ll have enough good material that will continue to motivate me to keep mixing these, and once again I re-reminded myself that there’s no shortage of amazing tracks that were produced pre 2010-ish, which is where I wanted to draw the line to keep this more about “classic” and “yesteryear” theme for the series. In fact, out of the 15 tracks on this mix I had to narrow that down from about 60 tracks that I still have left in the hopper from my original scan through my collection of the older stuff. Really happy with the way this one turned out, and I re-reminded myself about some of the hidden gems that I’ve totally forgotten about, like the Photon Project Remix of Andain’s “Beautiful Things”, that’s from 2003!!! I wouldn’t have been surprised if that was a brand new release, what an incredible remix of that track and from TWENTY years ago, and most people probably never even heard it. I also got to mix up a “dream team” list of some of my all-time FAVE vintage instrumental Uplifting Trance tracks, all back-to-back, like “Desert Eagle, “Northern Lights”, “Chime”, and “Aurora”, all on one mix, it’s almost TOO much Trance goodness in one mix, but I did it anyway.. I hope you’ll forgive me haha. I almost fainted from the adrenaline rush while playing those tracks together, such incredible memories and amazingly spine-tingly tracks, not to mention so many others, “Velvet Morning”, “Hold On To Me”, “Bass Society”, “Air for Life”, and I’ll never forget hearing Paul Oakenfold playing “Nice Guys Finish Last” but at a much faster speed, and was amazed that it was actually an amazing Trance track when played faster… And all the way from 1999, the iconic Fragma, and of course, “Gamemaster”, with the timeless famale vocal that helps me so vividly imagine our beautiful planet Earth a million years ago, so pure and untainted by mankind, so much awesomeness… Anyway, I’ll shut up an let you listen, and BTW, I will be opening for one of the artists on this mix, JOHN ASKEW, in July, so really looking forward to that one, definitely a bucket-lister for me haha. “White Label” a Classic Trance demo mix: 005, recorded live June 14th, 2023

Hey guys, Happy July!! Can’t believe it’s already practically mid-summer already.. Well, as sure as the world keeps turning, I keep acquiring more and more music and messing around with it on the decks, and if I don’t happen to luck out and get a club gig opening for an artist that matches well with the sets I am working on at the time, I’ll just create a “demo set” and record it on my gear in my home studio to get this lovely music out there for people to enjoy! So once again, I have a brand-new demo mix of some chill and mesmerizing, mostly progressive and organic house, maybe a few tracks bordering on a little more progressive trancey sounds, but this was intended to be a deep and chillax mix to sit back and soak in some sun, hopefully with an amazing view and an icy cocktail haha.. This is mostly new stuff, which I try to always use brand new material on each mix (unless I am doing a classics mix of course haha) but I did bring back three tracks that I’ve played previously, two in recent live gigs, and one from a demo I did quite a while back that’s never left my mind, because, to me, this is about as perfect of a set I can ever aspire to do as far as the amazing tracks that are on it, and I wanted to immortalize these three tracks that I still seek out to listen to because I love them so much, namely, the catchy "Don’t Forget the Parachute” by Not Now Please, PROFF's magical "Light Magic”, and the eternally mesmerizing “Alya” by Maiga, all on one demo mix to enjoy together. But I literally LOVE every track on this set, and I hope you do too. The very last track, A.M.R.’s “Got A Feeling”, I really lucked out with because he played it on a recent Monstercat/Silk Music Showcase and he said it wasn’t going to be released until his artist album towards the end of the summer, but it just magically appeared in Beatport right when I was finalizing my playlist for this set, so I snagged it and snuck it in at as the last track. “July Prog” a progressive house demo mix, recorded live July 3rd, 2023

On Friday, July 7th, I was beyond honored to be on the opening roster for a UK Trance pioneer who’s been making a waves in the club industry since the early 90’s underground rave scene in England, and has held residencies at some of the world's most influential clubs such as The Gallery, Cream, and Ministry of Sound, JOHN ASKEW, at Ora, Seattle!!! My dear DJ buddy from Portland, Deejay Zoxy, was visiting us in Seattle and I was booked to do a B2B set with him to hand off to this legend John Askew, and the opener/opener was another good buddy of mine, the fabulous Mike Honcho (a.k.a. Mikel Bralley). Unfortunately, Mikel was under the weather that night, so I ended up doing another last-minute and fully unplanned B2B set to open the club, this time with yet ANOTHER dear DJ buddy of mine and also the promoter at the club, Eric Weber, a.k.a. WEB. So instead of playing an hour set, I was up there for 2 hours before John Askew came out on stage and delivered a blistering set of main floor Uplifting Trance to blow the roof off for a packed club. It was such a fun evening of awesome music, and the crowd was amazing that night!! I decided to break this up into the two individual B2B sets, starting with this one with WEB, and I should have my B2B with Zoxy up here pretty soon as well. For this one, Eric and I hung in the deeper progressive house zone while the club filled up, and we have a mixture of some pretty brand-new releases and remixes, as well as a selection older, more vintage proggy choones from yesteryear. Anyway, had a total blast, and being able to hand off the decks to Mr. Askew himself was a true “Bucket Lister” for me haha. This was a real treat to be able open for such a well-known “semi-local” pioneer and influencer on the underground Ravey Techno/Trance sounds, and a staple DJ on the festival line-up’s like Dreamstate. I got to hand off the decks to Ganesh, whom was a super nice, humble, and intellectual guy, and a literal “mad scientist” when it came to mixing haha; it was mesmerizing and inspirational watching his hands expertly fly around all the effects as he wove his magical dark techno beats. My newish DJ buddy, Bryan Keyes, newcomer to the Seattle Trance scene from Alaska, opened the club and threw down an awesome set as well. I always love these opportunities to open for these 140+ BPM DJ’s because it allows me to play up to 138 BMP Trance, which isn’t common for openers to be able to play that fast, but one of my favorite genre’s and what originally lured me into Trance in the first place, uplifting 138 BPM Trance bangers!! I lucked out because I wanted to have a bit of a classic Trance element to this set because of Ganesh’s tenure in the scene, and there just happened to be several hot new remixes recently released of some uber-classic sounds, like the Emery vs Brisky Remix of Nu NRG’s “Dreamland”, Maria Healy’s remix of BT’s “Godspeed”, and Cosmic Boys’ new remix of the timeless “Café Del Mar” by Energy 52, which I kicked the set off with.. Plus, so many other great recently released tracks, and Ganesh let me spin one final track past my set time while he got set up, so I was able to squeeze 13 tracks into this bad boy. Opening set for GANESH, Ora Nightclub, Fri, October 6th, 2023

On Saturday, November 18th, I was honored to be the primary support for rising star Irish Trance DJ/Producer, BILLY GILLIES, at Ora Nightclub in Seattle. It seems I have been on a roll opening for Uplifting Trance and Techno Headliners lately, which has been super fun because it allows me to tap into the higher BPM's (up to 138) which are fairly far-and-few-between opportunities for opening DJ's.. Uplifting Trance is one of my favorite genre's of electronic dance music, and what got me into Trance in the first place. I was particularly excited about this one because Billy Gillies has definitely been on my radar for the past year or so , after having first heard a set by him on the "Trance Sanctuary" monthly podcast, which follows all the big DJ's and newer, relevant names rising in the scene in the big Trance Clubs in the UK. I was super excited about his tracks and remixes, and became a fan instantly. This set was so much fun, and I got to spin for the first time with an O.G. Seattle DJ who's been around for long before I showed up in the Seattle DJ scene, Kazan. I was able to squeeze in 13 tracks into this one, which is packed from beginning to end with amazingly euphoric bangers, spiced up with a couple classics from yesteryear which still send chills down my spine to this day; the Odonbat Remix of Karybde & Scylla's "Distorted Reality", and the timeless Temple One remix of "Things That Happen" by Will Holland, such an amazing track. The audience of Trance fans at this show was super fun to play for, and Billy Gillies showed up with a huge entourage of friends and fans that had followed him from playing three sets at Dreamstate down in LA just a few days before. Billy was a super friendly and humble guy, and it was a real honor to meet him and hand the decks off to this amazingly talented guy. This will likely be my last headliner opening show for the year, but I do have NYE show lined up in Portland, which should be a lot of fun, and I hope to have another Progressive House demo mix finished before Christmas, so keep your eye out for those! Seattle's Mark McCarthy a.k.a. DJ Gotek emerged out of the exploding Electronic Dance Music scene in the Pacific Northwest over the past decade+, and has held residencies at some of the hottest DJ clubs in the NW such as The Underground, Club Contour, and Foundation Nightclub in Seattle and Whiskey Bar in Portland, and also has played at an ever growing list of clubs and venues on the west coast. Specifically noted for his euphoric, uplifting, and melodic Progressive and Trance sets over the past decade, DJ Gotek has found himself being invited to open for some of the world's most prolific and iconic Trance and Progressive DJ/Producers, artists such as Paul van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold, Cosmic Gate, Sunny Lax, Genix, Solarstone, 4 Strings, Aly & Fila, ARTY, Ilan Bluestone, Super8 & Tab, Omnia, Ronski Speed, Orjan Nilson, Roger Shah, Chicane, The Blizzard, Lange, Daniel Kandi, Alex M.O.R.P.H., Gareth Emery, MYON, Max Graham, Andy Moor, Richard Durand, Bobina, Stoneface & Terminal, John OO Fleming, Simon Doty, Dezza, the list grows ever longer.. DJ Gotek always strives to create a feeling of euphoria with his mixes which are consistently heavy on the dreamlike and spine-tingly electronic sounds, regardless of which genre he’s playing in; Mark’s passion is to move people by bringing the very best in in Trance and Progressive to his audiences, and hopefully it shines through in the mixes he creates.

Note: Mark only uses AIFF lossless quality tracks mostly purchased at Beatport.com (except for producer demos). All mixes were either recorded live in the club or directly from Mark's gear (DJM A9 Mixer, 2 Pioneer CDJ3000's) recorded on a Zoom H4n Pro in WAV format, then professionally sound leveled post-recording, Voice ID Tagged, and  converted to MP3 by Chris Dececio Studios in the UK. EVERY single mix on Mark's Soundcloud was recorded live and in the moment on top-notch Pioneer DJ gear, not mixed with computer software, so they might not be exactly perfect 100% of the time, but they are "real", which is a standard of mix quality, authenticity, care, passion for live mixing, and DJ integrity Gotek is proud of. =)
