Ullrson returns with his fifth release of Viking Techno. The track includes the chanting of Thor’s name, crashing waves, thunder, a pounding kick drum, talgelharpas, jaw harps, anvils and a dark and haunting war horn. The track conjures up images of Thor’s battle with Jormungandr the Midgard Serpent during the end of the world battle of Ragnarök. Thor is a god who protects humanity here in Midgard (Middle Earth). To the Norse he is Thor, to the Anglo-Saxons, Thunor and to the Germanic tribes, Donar. It’s where we get the name Thursday from (Thor’s Day).

Underground Viking

Ullrson is back with his sixth release of Viking Techno. Odin’s Wild Hunt features howling and growling wolves, croaking ravens, a battle cry, war horns, a lyre, an evolving and aggressive synth, a brooding low end and driving percussion. The track is inspired by the Wild Hunt, which is spearheaded by the Norse God, Odin, during the deepest winter and Yule. It involves a ghostly procession of hunters led by Odin riding through the sky or across the landscape. The hunt is often characterized by its chaotic and ominous nature, with the hunters chasing mythical beasts or lost souls. It symbolizes themes of death, the transition between life and the afterlife, and the untamed forces of nature. In many traditions, witnessing the Wild Hunt is seen as an omen or a sign of impending doom. Odin’s Wild Hunt is released on Friday, December 6th 2024, to coincide nicely with Yule.

Ullrson returns with his first Viking Techno release of 2025, Heimdallr’s Call. The track showcases a catchy lead line with a tagelharpa, lyre and jaw harp, throat singing, anvil, shamanic percussion, war horn, weapon strikes, a powerful low end and lyrics in Old Norse. The heroic Norse god Heimdallr is the inspiration for this track. He is the vigilant Norse god known for his unmatched senses, and is the guardian of Bifröst, the rainbow bridge connecting Asgard to the mortal world. He is famed for his ability to see and hear across great distances, even at night, and for never needing sleep. Heimdallr possesses the resounding horn Gjallarhorn, which he will blow to signal the onset of Ragnarök, the final battle of the gods. In one myth, he recovers the stolen necklace Brísingamen for the goddess Freyja after a confrontation with Loki, demonstrating his role not just as a guard but also as a protector of divine order. At Ragnarök, Heimdallr and Loki fulfill their fated enmity by slaying each other in a climactic duel.

It was a great pleasure to work with Andre Jooste (NORSERUNA), who kindly designed the single artwork. Andre is a specialist in Norse graphic design and tattoos implementing runes and classic Viking styles. Here is what Andre had to say about his design:

“This sketch of Heimdallr draws inspiration from the ancient tales of his birth — born of nine waves, shaped by the sea's might. Elements within the design subtly honour this origin: flowing forms and patterns representing the waves that bore him into the world.

Behind him, the great horn Gjallarhorn stands, with Younger Futhark runes bursting forth in sound and light. The runes spell out 'Heimdallr’s Call' in Old Norse — the single's title — a cry that echoes across the Nine Worlds, calling all to witness the coming storm.”

Ullrson - Hnikarr [Ullrson Records] Preview

Ullrson is back with his second Viking Techno release of 2025, Hnikarr. The track features an evolving lead line with a nyckelharpa, lyre and jaw harp, deep pads, throat singing, horseshoe perc, weapon strike perc, anvil, war horns, weapon strikes, congas, a driving low end, ocean and thunder sounds and a powerful vocal chanting “Hnikarr”. Hnikarr is one of Odin’s many names and can be interpreted as Instigator of Battles, Inciter, Inflamer, The Striker, One Who Incites Strife, Thruster and Spear-Lord.

In the Reginsmál, Sigurðr and his men were swept past a promontory during a storm and spotted a man standing on a cliff. When they asked him his identity, the man replied; 

"They called me Hnikar, when I Hugin gladdened, young Völsung!
and battles fought.Now thou mayest call me the ancient of the rock, Feng, or Fiölnir." 


The name also appears in Grímnismál and Hrafnagaldr Óðins.

Nick Bowman is a DJ, Producer and Radio Host from England. He has played several times at Ministry of Sound (CLR / The Gallery / Saturday Sessions / Club Shelter), Pacha London, Egg, Basing House, Scala, and River Thames boat parties where his underground, bass driven techno, minimal and tech house beats tore up the dance floors of England’s capital city. He has played extensively in Colombia and also played in Germany and Italy.
Nick had already played his first gig at Ministry of Sound when he won the globally respected and renowned DJ mix competition, IDJ Magazine’s (International DJ Magazine) prestigious “Raw Talent Competition”. Nick’s winning mix received amazing reviews from some of the world’s top DJ’s, including Jody Wisternoff, Riva Starr and Deepgroove.
He hosts one of the most respected underground techno radio shows around, The Future Underground Show.
