Sweeney is an up and coming House DJ & producer from the midlands. Having spent five years in a row DJing the summer season in Zante, starting from the bottom and building himself up, he has a range of music diversity and a variety of selections up his sleeve on a club night, from garage & house to bassline + d&b. 

After venturing in to producing in 2019/20, his first ever release 'Sunshine' was a summer smasher in 2021 and the catalyst for a multitude of releases that are now lined up for 2022 and beyond..

London born, Budapest raised, Sonic Rain’s eclectic electronic style reflects the diversity of his homes and his sounds are set to continue spreading worldwide in 2023.

To say that Sonic Rain’s musicality was diverse may be selling him short. Boris Garland trained as a contemporary drummer and classical pianist from a young age before he began to delve into the world of electronic music and could be what creates his poetic soundscape of electronic genres. Inspired by labels such as XL Recordings, you can hear elements of nostalgic ‘90s club vibes, underground jazz and rhythmic R&B, tied together in a unique breakbeat package - done his way.

Before moving to Bristol in 2018 Sonic Rain made an impression on the Budapest music scene having resident DJ slots at club nights and performing at illegal raves. The strength of his live performances pushed him to appear several times on pirate radio station Tilos and managed to link him with promoting agency Bladerunnaz, landing him DJ sets on the A38 ship and at club Akvárium.

Currently residing in Budapest, Sonic Rain is getting ready to have an impact on more of Europe with his latest self-release titled Quicksand. Just two years ago, his debut single ‘Unity’ was released on Peer Pressure Records and got played on BBC Radio 1’s Drum & Bass Show with René la Vice. Since then, he has collaborated with A Little Sound, and had his track ‘Changes’ ft Libby Rollings remixed by Villem after the tune received a big round of support from the Drum & Bass scene. His music has been played by heavyweight DJs including Nastia, Frazer Ray, Om Unit and X-Coast, so stay tuned as it’s about to pour for Sonic Rain.

At this level i´m always suprised how many things can happen between two dschiggiddy-tshac´s. From handmade pieces to complete digital created sounds and the perfect collaboration of it. From clear choral atmosphere´s to digital aliented voices or instrumentals. For me, the songs I’m playing reflecting an internal attitude i try to have in all moments of live. There could be an intense melancholic keynote but behind that i feel a much more intense positive vibe wich impart me strength n resistence - primary electronic - different velocities - heavyweight basslines.
