In December of 2022, with Turbo Recordings nearing the cusp of its 25th year, label Owner, Founder and Executive Vision Honcho Tiga sent out an urgent missive to friends and collaborators across the globe:

"SEND ME ONE AWESOME TRACK AND LETS GET RICH BABYCAKES. SEND ME FILLER AND YOUR PERSONAL CONTACT INFO GOES STRAIGHT INTO THE TURBO DISCORD SO YOU CAN ‘CONNECT' WITH OUR FANS.”

This brazen threat spoke to the hearts of some of dance music’s greatest talents, who within days gathered outside Tiga’s Montreal fortress carrying thumb drives bursting with melody, rhythm, and more than a little timbre. Now, after months of brutal attrition and line-crossing personal rejection, we are proud to present you with the very best of the best. 

While the mere mention of a label compilation is enough to get anyone’s imagination rock-hard, just consider some of the names involved. From legends like Soulwax (as 2manydjs), Matias Aguayo, Jori Hulkkonen, The Hacker, Seth Troxler, and Audion to modern masters like Cora Novoa, Disfreq, Nikki Nair, Fedele, Mathame (and many more), Turbo 25 spans soundscapery from the label’s rich past, rich present, and VR-heavy future. It stands as an unqualified triumph of networking, goodwill toward men, and Dropbox.

As Turbo Recordings joins the long-lived ranks of Northrop Grumman, the Carlyle Group, and HSBC Malta, this corporate anniversary presents an opportunity for reflection, a chance to bask in the refractory glow before the next 25 years of our label bring about Paradise on Earth. Maybe all of this culminates with every single Turbo artist ever DJing and dancing alongside world leaders and Web3 visionaries at the Hadron Collider main stage. Maybe it’s finally time to release Tiga and Manu Chao's reggaefied hip-house stomper, “Get Vertical.” Literally anything is possible.

Marth is a driving force behind Barcelona's underground scene, as the head of surging imprint ITALO MODERNI. Schrödinger’s Box welcome Catalonia’s Adrian Marth into the fold. The Iberian artist has been drawing crowds and turning heads with his analogue inspired productions and dancefloor inhibitions. This five tracker sees the Italo Moderni founder explore the glittering angles and brooding shadows of his machines. The punishing percussion and beaming laser lights of “Labyrinth Mind” give way to the tumbling drums and racing synthlines of the addictive “Sex Tonight.” The flip opens with the sleazy grandeur of “Beverly Hills”, looming melodies and retro flourishes combine in this operatic ode to the 1980s. Speaking of the 80s, the inspiration for the penultimate comes from a figure who symbolised the bombastic bravado of the era. “Divine on the Late Show 88” is a tribute to the Pink Flamingos legend, beats sparkle as her sequenced dresses and larger-than-life attitude screams into the present. Danny Wolfers takes the helm to close. Donning his familiar Legowelt moniker, the behemoth of all things electronic delivers a saturated and spiralling rework of “Divine on the Late Show 88” to the close.

PREMIERE: Adrian Marth - Labyrinth Mind [Schrödinger's Box]

Schrödinger’s Box is proud to unveil the latest EP from Catalonia’s own Adrian Marth (SXDNS188), a standout name in the dark side of the electronic music scene. Known for his analogue-driven sounds and dance-inducing productions, Marth brings a fresh perspective to the label with a collection of five tracks – four blood-thirsty originals and a fangy remix by Legowelt – that explore the nuanced interplay between light and dark, rhythm and melody. Each track on “Labyrinth Mind”, soon available on digital and vinyl formats, is a testament to Adrian’s mastery, drawing listeners into a world where the past and future collide in a dazzling display of sonic ingenuity.

Eelco’s taste in music has always been eclectic. He has been passionate about music from an early age, drawn to a wide range of sounds, from indie, rock, metal, jazz to hip-hop and drum & bass. But everything changed when he experienced his first AWAKENINGS techno party in Amsterdam over 20 years ago. That day, he had an epiphany! The pulsating energy, the hypnotic rhythms they were a calling.
From that moment on, he became addicted to the raw, driving force of Techno and Electro.
"The first time I stepped into a warehouse and FELT that hard bass, those hissing  sharp hi-hats, and the deep, hypnotic groove of proper Techno, I knew I had come home!"
Ever since then he wanted to share his unrelenting passion for TECHNO with the world!

The Why people dance question was asked for the first time in Lithuania back in 2013 but it gained a worldwide echo in its 8 years of existence. Run by @pauliuskamblevicius with the help of @experimentsserial and a network of collaborators, the online electronic music platform and label keeps its heart open for new friends and treasure finds but its filter tight and deep underground. We are an independent, non-profit, online platform, devoted to offering free streaming of curated DJ sets and mixtapes provided not only by established artists but also by young talents from all over the world.

Turbo Recordings was founded by Tiga in Montreal back in 1998. In addition to launching his own career, the label has been integral in the success of acts like Chromeo, Gesaffelstein, Duke Dumont and most recently, ANNA & Charlotte de Witte. Core talent includes ZZT (Tiga's collaboration with Zombie Nation), Jori Hulkkonen, BETON, Clouds, Harvard Bass, Pilo, Shaded, Dimitri Veimar and a host of new young producers in genres ranging from pure techno, electro, and house to pop. The list of artists who have released music on the label is a veritable 'who's who' of top-level talent spanning a broad musical range, and this, along with a commitment to beautiful design, has earned the label respect in the industry and a cult following among fans. 

“We started out singing into plastic bags and shipping them to stores as quickly as possible. Later, we discovered that vinyl sounds way better when delivered by kayak. I learned so much the first few years…Now, as I look towards the future, I can envision music for poor people, sonic odors for the hearing impaired, even MP3s for women....Vroom, sucka!” says Tiga, the lyrical lampsman lighting the way down Dance Avenue.
