[ENGLISH] This is the 4th chapter of my series, Just Another Freak — a sonic ritual for those who know that being normal was never the goal.

In this edition, the set is shorter — just 1 hour long — but packed with intensity, just the way progressive psytrance demands it: fast BPMs, tight basslines, and zero breathing room from start to finish.

This lecture discusses key ideas from the 20th century German philosopher, sociologist of knowledge, and phenomenologist, Max Scheler's work Ressentiment, which provides an interpretation of Friedrich Nietzsche's concept of that same name. It focuses on his discussion in the third part of the work "Christian Morality and Ressentment" of the connections Scheler sees between the modern conception of "altruism" and the dynamic of ressentiment, which he thinks is involved in modern "altruism". Both altruism and egoism as opposites are often used by modern thinkers as a conceptual framework that Christian love does not neatly fit into, and the reduction of Christian love to "altruism", Scheler thinks, is a mistake.

Max Scheler, Ressentiment - Love, Help, and Altruism - Sadler's Lectures

“There is no such thing as a raw, natural, aggressive urge that underlies human violence. While we inherit defense mechanisms, they work only when triggered culturally.” So opens John Protevi’s Regimes of Violence: Toward a Political Anthropology, which takes as its biocultural basis that social practices shape our bodies and minds, and analyzes human aggression throughout history: early nomadic foragers, organized sports, berserkers and blackout rages, maroons escaping slavery, the January 6th invasion of the US Capitol, and responses to the Covid-19 pandemic. Protevi entwines the philosophical with the anthropological and considers why humans’ capacity for cooperation and sharing is persistently overlooked by stories of aggression and warfare. 

This book is an important contribution to the studies of Deleuze and Guattari, and here, Andrew Culp (Dark Deleuze) and Protevi (“joyous Deleuze”) dig into myriad shades of human expression from philosophical and cultural perspectives.



John Protevi is professor of French studies and philosophy at Louisiana State University and author of Regimes of Violence: Toward a Political Anthropology; Political Affect: Connecting the Social and the Somatic; Life, War, Earth: Deleuze and the Sciences; and Edges of the State.

Andrew Culp is director of the MA Aesthetics and Politics program at California Institute of the Arts and author of Dark Deleuze and A Guerrilla Guide to Refusal.

I'm here. I'm safe. I'm MKULT and all charges were dropped.

Another year of no shows. I need to perform. In Europe. In Brazil. I finally am able to travel. My children are safe. 

Now, I'm trying to get back home to Washington and I received an email from the police that stated:

This track is the start of my next release, captures the sounds from the infamous vinyl release by the Gyoto Monks. Sifting thru the ruins of my life as I piece things back together, following the aftermath of repeated police brutality, wrongful incarceration, identity theft.

Folks, I'm alive and kicking. This ain't no ploy for attention. I am ready to travel.

"You pay for travel, I come to party." A sentiment once relayed by my now officially ex husband now means its time people to focus. Hard. My personal safety is my top priority. 72 days they took from me. Wrongful conviction. Dudley played a huge part in all of this. He threw me in jail four times in a month. He is no longer part of my musical repertoire.

No more trauma.
I am safe.
I am here.
I am MKULT

This lecture discusses key ideas from the 20th century philosopher and novelist Ayn Rand's book The Virtue of Selfishness, in particular the chapter "The Objectivist Ethics"

This focuses specifically on her discussion of what she terms "non-rational" ethics, by way of contrast to her own rational egoist or "objectivist ethics".  She examines what she calls the "mystic", "social", and "subjectivist" ethics, and criticizes what she views as the "false dichotomy of altruism".

MKULT is presence, a state of mind achieved through sound— a transmission of higher consciousness through frequency and form. MKULT is Shelly Truman, a West Coast–based producer and performer from Port Townsend, Washington and Tonopah, Nevada. An architect of atmosphere and emotion, Truman merges analog and digital worlds through trance-induced production, shaping sound as a state of being.
Her compositions move through techno, electro, drum and bass, ambient, dark wave, synth-pop, and cinematic downtempo, blending glitch, artifact, atmosphere.

A multi-instrumentalist and self-producing artist under her independent label TTwinz, Truman performs, mixes, and masters her own work.

MKULT is more than an identity; it is a state of awareness — a visionary movement driven by altruism and the belief that sound can awaken collective presence. Truman channels intensity into clarity, inviting listeners into a shared experience where music becomes the pulse of consciousness itself.
