Couldn't be happier with my Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1! Having grown up listening to the Radio 1 Dance Family & Essential Mixes religiously, they had a huge influence on my musical taste. So much so, that I would even say that I wouldn't be making the music I make today if it wasn't for their impact.

It's always a huge honour to work with Radio 1 and I had a lot of fun putting this mix together for you, including a few surprises to highlight some of those early influences.
It's always been a dream of mine to make an essential mix, so this feels like a huge milestone for me, thank you BBC Radio 1🙏🏻

At times like this, I always think back to where I started and it has been an amazing journey so far, from playing at house parties and small clubs to some of the most incredible stages around the world. So thanks to everyone that has supported me along the way ❤

Tom Bryder is a Belgrade-based music producer, musician, and DJ known for his distinct progressive house sound. Supported by industry heavyweights such as Fedde Le Grand, Gareth Emery, and Fehrplay, Tom has been making waves with his unique style.

In 2023, Tom embarked on a new chapter in his career with his first release, featuring three tracks titled "One Way", "Northwind", and "Regen". His newest music is a breath of fresh air for fans of old-school progressive house, blending intricate melodies, driving basslines, and atmospheric soundscapes that transport listeners on a journey through his musical universe. Combining aggressive sound design with hypnotic grooves and melodies, Massano’s rapid rise in the melodic techno scene continues to accelerate. Hailing from the outskirts of a thriving electronic music culture in Liverpool, Massano burst onto the scene with his first releases on Running Clouds; Velocità and The Feeling, gaining major support from widely known DJs. Following this initial recognition, Massano proved himself as an established artist by featuring in Afterlife’s Unity 2 compilation and later releasing EPs on top labels Afterlife and Oddity . His debut Afterlife EP ‘In My System’ received huge support and performed incredibly well on Beatport, with the EP reaching number 1 in the Beatport releases chart, Drown reaching the top 10 of all genres, and all 4 tracks reaching the top 5 of the melodic house & techno charts. He further grew his network by releasing on recognised labels such as Atlant, Eleatics and his own imprint Eternity Sounds. Whilst gaining frequent support from DJs like Tale Of Us, Mind Against, Mathame, Camelphat and Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1.

Furthermore, Massano has proven his DJ skills to match his producing, playing in some of the most famous venues around the world, including Afterlife Tulum & Printworks, Wembley Arena, the Orange Velodrome & Circus Liverpool, playing alongside the likes of Tale Of Us, Camelphat, Stephan Bodzin, Anna and Mind Against and Recondite to name a few. Along with having his mixes featured by Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1 and Tomorrowland’s One World Radio.

D&B Duo signed to RAM Records

The name SyRan came after the Ransome brothers (Josh and James) toyed with the idea of forming a drum & bass project, having spent years consuming a diet of Andy C and Calibre. After modestly working under individual pseudonyms, a chance meeting with Ray Keith at Clashmouth’s vinyl market meant that the name ‘SyRan’ finally stuck, solidifying their commitment to melding their two considerable talents. 

Following this encounter, alongside several releases under their belt, they found a home within the roster of RAM Records. Over thirty years in the making, RAM are an imprint who have cultivated the careers of some of the genre’s shining lights. And after the success of SyRan’s RAM debut alongside a host of singles and Eps with the imprint, the two are following a similar path. Evidence of this is through SyRan’s tastemaker support, from the likes of UKF, DJ Mag, Kiss FM, Kool FM, Danny Howard on BBC Radio 1 to Drum & Bass Arena, as well as being heralded as one of BBC Radio 1’s ‘Ones to Watch’ in 2023 with a slot at Printworks for RAM Records 30th Birthday months prior to the announcement. This would soon lead into the duo being a defining part in RAM Records orchestral takeover at London Guildhall and the Barbican, as well as the release of Project Cars III where their talent had also been noticed by the video games industry.

Already a staple on Charlie Tee’s BBC Radio 1 show, especially via the pair’s collaboration with MEL ‘Reprisal’, 2023 is looking just as explosive for SyRan. Having played at seminal club nights such as Hit & Run, the RAM residency at XOYO and for Brighton’s Serotone Recordings, this year they include Illusive Festival on their run of tour dates too. Meanwhile, their brand-new remix of Bobby Harvey, Abi Flynn and One Bit's single 'Last Summer' received weeks of consecutive features on Danny Howard’s BBC Radio 1 Dance Anthems show, alongside plays at Las Vegas event EDC through RAM label boss Andy C. 

With the guidance of RAM, the brothers have come from their modest foundations and have grown to be part of the imprint’s new generation. This is a feat which not many newcomer producers have been able to accomplish. There’s also more to come from SyRan, alongside a brand-new radio show on Data Transmission and more music in the works too. Watch this space!
