My version of Back Home in Derry. Bobby Sands wrote the lyrics in prison as a poem. It's about the Robert Emmet rebellion in 1803. Prisoners were deported to Australia to work in prison labour colonies. Christy Moore recorded it to the tune of The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald by Gordon Lightfoot.

Here's my version of this classic Irish ballad. Mclhatton was an old fiddler who knew how to make an excellent Poitin, the ancestor of whiskey. When the valley where he lived filled with buyers of his fine liquor, many tried to capture him, but he knew how to hide well and was never caught. Enjoy my track and share! CIAO
