Qatifa célèbre la beauté de la musique classique arabo-ottomane. 
Dans une forme purement instrumentale, l'ensemble explore l'art du Maqâm méditerranéen, comme les dédales d'un palais. Fidèles à l'esprit de la musique modale, oud, violon et percussions réinventent et ornementent les chemins musicaux empruntés à chaque concert. Les Taqasim - improvisations libres ou rythmées - se drapent autour des Sama'i, Bashraf ou Longa, hérités de maîtres tels que Tanburi Cemil Bey (Empire Ottoman) ou Mohammad al-Qasabji (Egypte). Des compositions toujours aussi vivantes, parfois quelques centaines d'années après leur naissance.

I was not even born that the Macarena was played and danced to at every party. For me it's a precious memory, maybe my first time learning the same dance adults were having to have fun. And musically speaking, you cannot say it is a bad song. So here is my take with the usual weirdo spiciness I like to bring : this time I used some oriental flavors with darbouka percussions and an arabic scale synthesizer. Hope you dig it!
