Prokaryotic Cells: 3.5-3.8 billion years ago (1 billion = 1,000,000,000)

The journey from protocells to prokaryotic cells marks a pivotal chapter in the evolution of life on Earth. This transition represents the emergence of the first true living cells, laying the foundation for all life forms that followed. 

Recall that Protocells were simple, self-organized, pre-cellular structures that lacked the complex machinery of true cells. The transition from Protocells to Prokaryotic cells involved the development of a cell membrane, a protective barrier that maintains a stable internal environment, and the appearance of genetic material in the form of DNA, organized into structures known as plasmids.

These early prokaryotic cells were primarily bacteria and archaea, which, despite their simplicity, showcased remarkable adaptability and versatility. 

The legacy of prokaryotic cells is evident in every breath of air we take and in the vast diversity of life that populates Earth. Cyanobacteria, a group of photosynthetic prokaryotes, were responsible for the Great Oxygenation Event around 2.4 billion years ago, fundamentally altering Earth's atmosphere and paving the way for aerobic life forms.

These ancient organisms continue to inhabit virtually every conceivable niche, from the boiling hydrothermal vents at the ocean's depths to the icy expanses of polar regions, and even within our own bodies, playing roles that are as crucial as they are varied.

Lisbon based Zilla guides us through territories where rhythm becomes ritual. Drawing from Italian hypnotic techno, he slowly builds intensity with restraint, letting sonic layers breathe and unfold. Tonal density meets ethereal space as the mix rises and recedes like a slow tide. Here, depth is felt, in the slow unraveling of sound that defines hypnotic techno.
