It was 1994.  maybe late 1993.  Nothing like mixing up a cassette tape on two beaten up Technic SL-210s (I couldn't afford 1200s) and a mixer from Radio Shack.  I had one good quality Maxell tape that I had recorded one of my hip hop radio show on a couple years back.  I decided to record over it and make this breakbeat mix tape with all the new vinyl I had purchased.  I plugged the VCR audio into the mixer so I could use samples I had prepared from Kung Fu movies and a Documentary on martial arts.  My needles were on their last leg (you can hear every little bump in the records and there is even a skip or two).  Regardless, I made the mix, bought some cheap blank cassettes and spent a week making dubs to hand out.  I went through some of my comic books and took them to Kinko's where I copied pictures and pasted and cut words and images with actual scissors and glue to make the covers.  I even included my home phone number on it!  I think this tape got me some bookings.  At the time, the hardcore scene was fading, jungle and happy hardcore were still a year or two away and everyone was into trance at the time, yet I stuck with what I loved.  I hope you enjoy this piece of history.  I cringe at some of the mixes and I'm glad that I improved over the years, but its nice to reminisce and relive a great time in my life.  Peace. Love. Unity. Respect.  Just as relevant now as it was in 1994.

Jet setting Rub-a-Dub-Junglist FLeCK is a producer and DJ whose name’s on everybody’s lips when it comes to fresh Jungle bangers, wobbling 140 workouts and bringing warmth to a room full of happy, dancing people.

FLeCK is an electronic music producer and DJ, signed on Dread Recordings and Serial Killaz Recordings. Born in Athens, Greece, he started his musical journey in the mid 90’s and today his sound has spread worldwide.

FLeCK’s music is characterized by a Roots Reggae Dub vibe mixed with futuristic Jungle breaks and fat bass sounds. It has found its way into the record boxes of the likes of Public Enemy’s DJ Lord, Rusko and many other big names in the game around the world such as Congo Natty, Jumping Jack Frost, Kenny Ken, Ray Keith, 2 Bad Mice, Altern8, Nicky Blackmarket, as well featuring on Diplo’s Mad Decent blog and receiving massive worldwide radio support from London’s legendary Kool FM to BBC 1Xtra.

He has collaborated ,written and remixed tunes for artists like Zion Train, Mungo’s HiFi, Ray Keith, Congo Natty, Chopstick Dubplate, Aries, JStar, Soom T, Dj Solo, Dub Pistols, Taiwan MC, Earl 16 and many others. 

His music has been released on prestigious record labels around the world such as Scotch Bonnet, Jungle Cakes, Born On Road, Serial Killaz, Dread Recordings, Congo Natty Bass, ODG, Liondub International, Nice Up! and Universal Egg to name a few and counts over 70 releases since 2009. 

In recent years he has travelled the world playing clubs and big festivals (Outlook, Boomtown, Glastonbury, Seasplash, Overjam, Wee Dub, Incubate, Drop Beats Not Bombs, Let it Roll, Eden) regularly passing through Austria, UK, Spain, Netherlands, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Poland, Portugal, Germany and Greece. 

He has shared stages with Horace Andy, Alborosie, Congo Natty, Zion Train, Dub Pistols, Mungo’s Hi Fi, Aba Shanti-I, Stand High Patrol, Prince Fatty and many, many others and the clear message this sends out is that FLeCK’s love for sound system music is embraced the world over!

In 2015, 2016 and 2017 he was nominated as Best Breakthrough Producer and Best Breakthrough DJ at the We Love Jungle Awards.

 Began mixing Hip Hop at a very young age in the early 90's, then Jungle/Drum&Bass on and off in the mid 90's to early 2000's,...gave it up for about 7-8 years, recently fell in love with Dubstep & here I am again! =) I also love the Nu-Jungle/J-Tek/Future Jungle 140-150 Breaks sound nowadays & still mess with a little Drum&Bass & Hip Hop every now & then..
