This song means so much to me, I'm glad to have been able to do it as my first ever actual cover, even though I don't particularly think it's my best work, it's still my work and I love it.

Merry Go Round of Life but it's all Synths

Rain Tree Sketch II is composed by the Japanese composer Tōru Takemitsu in 1992. It is a continuation of his earlier work Rain Tree Sketch from 1982, and both pieces were inspired by Takemitsu's interest in the sound and imagery of the rainforest.

Takemitsu was deeply influenced by the natural world and often found inspiration in the sounds of the environment. He had a particular fascination with the rainforest and its unique soundscape, which he described as a "surreal symphony". Takemitsu once said, "In the jungle, I hear a cacophony of sounds. But to me, these sounds are not noise; they are music. I hear the trees singing, the water flowing, the birds calling. It is a symphony, a surreal symphony."

Takemitsu completed "Rain Tree Sketch II" just two years before his death in 1996. The piece was premiered in 1992 by the Boston Symphony Chamber Players, and has since become a staple of contemporary chamber music. It is often regarded as one of Takemitsu's finest works and a testament to his unique approach to music composition, which combined Western classical music with traditional Japanese elements and a deep appreciation for the natural world.

武満は自然界に深い影響を受け、しばしば環境の音からインスピレーションを得ていました。彼は特に雨林の独特な音響に魅了され、それを「超現実的な交響曲」と表現しました。「ジャングルでは、カオスのような音を聞きます。しかし、私にとってはそれらの音はノイズではなく、音楽です。木々が歌っているのを聞き、水が流れているのを聞き、鳥が呼んでいるのを聞きます。それは交響曲であり、超現実的な交響曲です」と語っています。

joe hisaishi's music has inspired me for a long time. it was such a rewarding process to learn one of his compositions. somehow he can create a universe in a song. hopefully i created at least a town in this cover.

Ça y est. Le mois d'or et d'août laisse place à septembre... D'habitude je ne suis pas très en sympathie avec cette notion de "rentrée" et de devoir s'y remettre mais cette année j'ai hâte de plonger dans les feuilles d'automne qui me réservent, ainsi qu'à vous, plein de surprises. 
Mais là tout de suite, restons encore un tout petit peu dans la mélancolie de la fin de l'été avec cet air de Joe Hisaishi que j'avais envie de reprendre, issu du film majestueux Le Château dans le Ciel de Hayao Miyazaki, Sheeta's Decision.

Once you are over thirty years deep into rave culture, it becomes hard to not want a slice of the action yourself. For Bring The Beat Mack, his recent immersion into the world of drum and bass is the culmination of decades of living and breathing all forms of dance music.

After diving into the world of raving thanks to tapes from icons including DJ Rap, Sasha, and Andy Weatherall in the early ‘90s, Mack was instantly hooked on anything intended for transmission through a sound system at high volume. It didn’t matter if it was house, jungle, or hardcore; the irresistible grooves of golden-age raves captured the heart and ears of the young soul.

With good fortune, Mack was able to attend parties pushing house and hardcore thrown by the legendary Midlands-based DiY and Smokescreen crews and Techno-fueled squat raves organised by friends in London. As the decade progressed, his interest in the burgeoning Trance scene grew; one pair of Technics later, he was on his way to honing his mixing style and fashioning himself as a DJ. Around the turn of the millennium, breaks tracks from artists such as Deekline, Ed Solo, and The Freestylers further expanded Mack’s musical vocabulary. 

As fate would have it, a chance to catch a drum and bass set from WheelUp Sound System resident Dubroot at a rave in a brewery in 2017. Mack was instantly inspired to pursue this sound and its unmatched intensity, becoming a WheelUp resident shortly after this encounter. A 2021 multigenre set at Sounds Good Festival (run by Mack himself) sealed the deal; after a self-described epiphany during the performance, it became apparent that the only way forwards was drum and bass. Following this, he immersed himself on the East London drum and bass circuit as a DJ with WheelUp, threw himself into production, continues to run Sounds Good Festival, and founded the Upgraded label.

Whilst the rich tapestry of his musical upbringing continues to inform his sound, drum and bass remains at the core of the Bring The Beat Mack project. Releases on labels including Jungle Cakes, Propa Talent, and Original Key Records have firmly positioned Bring The Beat Mack as a recognised talent in the scene. When your remix is hand-picked for release by DJ Rap herself, there can be no doubt about this. Bring The Beat Mack has also received recognition behind the wheels of steel; as both a solo artist and as part of WheelUp, he has landed himself on lineups alongside legends including Ragga Twins, Fabio, A Guy Called Gerald, The Freestylers, and Dub Pistols.
