I found an old dusty bootleg 7-inch vinyl of the 1983 single "(Keep Feeling) Fascination" by The Human League fit with an inner groove loop, and "HONOHOUGA?" was crudely written on the center label in permanent marker, possibly in reference to what the previous owner thought they heard in the repeating voice.

The cover art is a watercolour painting by Ana Johnson-Moore from 2022.

Can there be any silence at all? 

While we were on MØNTAGE CAMP at Urhof 20 in Grünbach am Schneeberg, Lower Austria, S. Nicolussi (@bydl) recorded the last five minutes of "silence" in the big hall before sleeping. The eight recordings in total then were layered on top of each other to form this composition by themselves.

"The author of these notes has spent his life explaining radical music, and the music on this disc may be the most radical I've ever written about. Peter Thoegersen (b. 1967) is not yet a name known to the music world; not for any lack of connection to other famous musicians, but because he came to composition late, and because his artistic aims are so broad and complex that they have taken years to evolve. His aesthetic is well defined, and he is upfront about having a name for it: "Polytempic Polymicrotonal Music." That means he has musical layers simultaneously moving in different tempos, plus, even more radically, that he has different microtonal scales playing at the same time. Few composers have aimed at such fervent and heterogeneous multidimensionality. And yet, while Thoegersen's music can seem overwhelming at first, running through it is a level of charm and simplicity that belies the initial impression.

In total, these three pieces emphasize a particular side of Thoegersen's output. The image his music creates of ornately mathematical structures filled with intuitively friendly melodies maps on to the personality of the man himself: outspoken and acerbically ruthless in his musical opinions, Thoegersen is also marked by a jolly sense of humor and an inexhaustible love of cats and other animals that make him ultimately less imposing and more personable than he might seem at first. I'm an italian electronic musician, specialized in the production of Hip Hop and Trap beats. During my life I have experimented with the most disparate genres, such as Psytrance, Dubstep, Electroswing, EDM. I play guitar and piano and in 2014 I received the Traditional Diploma in Voice and Electronic Music. In 2018 I graduated in Electronic Music (1st level Academic Diploma) with a composition at the Saint Louis College of Music in Rome.

This threshold space exists for those who feel like listening to some of my quite professional poetry embedded in rather amateurishly recorded but judiciously arranged sound, a modicum of purely acoustic work notwithstanding. SOUND, SPACE AND TIME

Tend your listening senses gently. Even though my general approach welcomes and embraces lo-fi concepts like the precision of spontaneously occuring imprecisions, headphones worth their membranes are recommended - unless you like your sounds flat, mangled, battered and helpless. You don't, do you? Be kind to these soundscapes.

STRUCTURING IMPULSE

Due to the nature of "poetry soundscapes", your listening expectations regarding traditionally structured "songs", sonically purified "raw wildlife soundscapes", keyboard-laden "ambient recordings" or voice-centered "readings" might not be met. You will find some of those in my list of /likes/. "Noise" is a recurring structural element like any other. This is what this sounds like - within its own rights, limitations, tangents and interconnections. Sonic structures. Silent stretches. Poetry emerges from the gaps between the ruts, seeps in from the undergrowth, sweeps down.

A quick glance into my toolshed rests on Zoom recorders, Samplitude software and a dizzying array of diverse sonic machinery. After all, sound is one way my poems know to materialize - insolently shapeshifting, indelibly greening into the cultural real.
