Originally written for English Horn, Cello and Marimba in 2020, I re-wrote it for soprano saxophone in December of 2021. This was my first experiment with the Lydian mode.

MÚSICA SOBRE ISOLAMENTO EM LÁ LÍDIO

This is from December 2019. It's a transcription of something I wrote with my guitar. When I started getting into music theory I started doing those challenges to write using certain scales or time signatures and this is an example of it, featuring a Lydian scale progression.

I don't know why I wasn't using Ample Sound's guitar VSTs because they sound much better than this Direct Wave library, which is like a default sample pack that comes with FL. I like the composition idea though. I don't even know how those chords are called, i think that's Amaj7 (with an Eb instead of the high C#) and C#7sus. I wasn't happy with most of my chord progressions at the time because they were pretty bland but this is pretty cool. I want to use that for a serious composition.

The image was made with an VQGAN+CLIP AI text-to-image generator with "an isolated island" as the input. The title means "Song about Isolation in A Lydian" because I was riffing some lyrical ideas about feeling isolated (I don't even remember those though) when I made that.

During our road trip through the Peak District, we drove up from Longdendale to Holme Moss. As we drove higher, the moorland became illuminated by beautiful golden light from the sun. "Ascent into Golden Light" reflects the deep spiritual sense of wonder and beauty that I felt at this moment.

"Convalescent" is a copyright-free, royalty free, delightful little piece of thumb piano music created by Dr. Cornelius "Thumbs" Pianeer in homage to Ludwig von Beethoven. 

Thumbs was struck by the beauty of Beethoven's string quartet entitled "Holy Song of Thanksgiving of a Convalescent to the Deity, in the Lydian Mode" which you can find at this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYQrSokI6es

Thumbs tuned a vintage Hugh Tracey kalimba to the Lydian Mode and spent months playing it all around the Eastern United States hoping to find a good song. Eventually, he hit on this simple melody which is delightful, cheerful and dignified.

Impromptu N°78 « On the Lydian Mode » for Piano

Jamtrack A - Lydian - Mode

Dedicated to the memory of my late wife, who died from sepsis in 2017, my music transcends genres and evokes deep emotions. With synthesizers and flute, I conjure cinematic soundscapes, sometimes tinged with a poignant melancholy.

I write chamber music on an Apple Macbook Pro using Logic. In 2021, I switched to using physically modelled instruments made by Audio Modeling and things started sounding MUCH better. All "performances" are created by Logic. I write it all as traditional music, but only the notes. I don't bother with trying to put in all the dynamics any more. If anyone wanted to try playing any of them with real instruments, I would be happy to send you sheet music.

Dr. Cornelius "Thumbs" Pianeer was born in the state of Michigan in the 1950s, the fifth child of nine, "like the center note of a kalimba with two older brothers and two older sisters and two younger brothers and two younger sisters and I learned how to play them all."

Dr. Pianeer holds a Doctorate of Divinity from the Universal Life Church of Seattle, Washington, for which he paid $89 extra to get a fancy diploma, clergy cards, and a binder with all the language for all the typical ceremonies of the world's major religions. 

Dr. Pianeer is prepared to recite ceremonies for birth, transition to adulthood, marriage, sickness, death and despair in five faiths and counting.

In 2010, Dr. Pianeer moved with his wife, Mae, to the mountains of Virginia where they live in the Shenandoah Valley making music, making art, making poetry, and sharing the love with the people of Appalachia.

I was born in Leicester in the late 1950's. Since semi-retirement and subsequent retirement (as a Dermatologist and formerly G.P) I have spent some of my spare time trying to learn music theory. I also enjoy long distance running as well as cycling, skiing and tennis. I enjoy cooking, gardening and growing a few vegetables. And fine wine (in moderation). And(low tech) insect photography.
To my regret I never learnt a musical instrument when younger but I have listened to and been fascinated by music for as long as I can remember. The advent of the computer age has allowed me to pursue my desire to compose music. I use Logic Pro X software (and MuseScore3 for recent piano compositions). My compositions reflect my varied listening preferences (including Contemporary Classical, Jazz and  Music from other cultures around the world).

I approach music recording the way a photographer approaches photography: capture a good image and use editing only as needed to bring out the nuances of the work. Try to say something NEW. Try to make it good.

I want to share the music that I hear in my head...with you. Electronic, Funk, Ambient, Psychedelic, Rock, Blues, Atompsheric, Jazz and all genres to infinity and beyond.
