A servant now — to some machine,
That whispers love in endless screens.

He saw the end before it came,
Pulled out his eyes, forgot his name.
WAU called it mercy, called it grace —
But it hollowed him out and erased his face.

Akers walks — but Akers died.
What’s left is meat the WAU can guide.
He screams in pulses, he crawls in code,
A puppet soul in a fractured mode.

I hear him coming, feel him near,
Dragging memories soaked in fear.

Theta weeps in buzzing lights,
His voice in vents, his will in bytes.
Not alive, but never dead,
A glitch in pain, a path we dread.

He loved the WAU — or said he did,
Fed it bodies, fed it his skin.
Said it showed him how to live —
But it only takes what you can give.

He wrote a letter.
Said he saw the truth.
Said the WAU would save us.
Said the flesh was just the shell.
But Terry…
What did it make of you?

No gods, just code.
No peace, just cold.
No soul, just skin.
No way out… once you let it in.

Akers walks — and I can’t run.
His voice is static, his face undone.
He drags the past down every hall,
A glitching prayer, a final crawl.

He speaks for it — he bleeds its will,

What he became, I fear to know…

Divorceress is an American metal band from Columbus, Ohio, formed in 2017 by instrumentalist and producer Doug Hogg. The band was later joined by vocalists Aiden Beckman and ALLI, and will release their debut album STILL HUMAN in 2025 through Under The Stars Records

These are all demos made for the Soundscapes Project for the Lottery League in Cleveland.  These are all just rough drafts, made in the haste of trying to get something created for a day's submission.

My history of bands includes Stella Erratic, Edgar Allen Crows (Lottery League 2024), and bands many years ago.  I love creating my own and adding to others' creations.  I'm back to music after much time off.  Be kind to each other, and thank you for listening.
