as everything begins to fade around me, my hope inevitably wears thin. these memories do not obscure any moment of hurt from the jagged spikes of the cold. my hope appeared useless and meant no more after everything fell apart. out of nowhere, a distant unfamiliar chime begins to break through. the melody invigorates my heart with warm embers, and my mind races with images of a theoretical future. it wasn't perfect but it was Enough. should you let yourself abandon your reality with a cold stab to yourself, or should you choose to hold a blanket of hope across yourself and hold it out?
