Vinyl Only Special: 

On May 18, 2020, MABU Beatz Radio, Art & Techno, and Streammaster.de united to bring you a Vinyl Only Special, featuring two pioneers of the underground electronic scene: Lenny Posso and Chincha. This live stream, recorded during the height of the pandemic, was a homage to the timeless power of vinyl and the deep-rooted sounds of house and techno.

Lenny Posso, hailing from Brooklyn, has been a defining figure in the New York City underground dance scene for over three decades. From the early 90s as a dancer in NYC’s iconic hotspots, Lenny transitioned to DJing in '96 and has since established Thema Recordings, Chronicle Records, and Thema Digital Series. With over 110 releases, his signature style combines the gritty energy of Detroit House, the soul of Chicago House, and the depth of Deeper Detroit Techno, creating an eclectic and bold techno-funk experience.

On the other side, Chincha, founder of DroneLab, brings his own blend of Dark Techno with a clear influence from the raw, hypnotic sound of Detroit Techno. His ability to capture the mood and create an immersive atmosphere made this performance an unforgettable journey into the deeper realms of techno.

I recently came across some rare ambient vinyls at the LP-Café (Erdbergstrasse 10, 1030 Vienna). Cover artist Angela Lorenz (http://alorenz.net, info@alorenz.net), who once lived nearby, had donated her collection to the café before moving back to Berlin. I visited the shop with a friend (@celine.weigt – that’s her in the photo), and we were both drawn to these mysterious records from the Full Swing series, impossible to find online. I ended up buying the whole series and recorded a set, blending in some Pauline Anna Strom, Ambienti Coassiali, and Ekkehard Ehlers. Hope you enjoy it!

His journey began in 1997 when he bought his first records at Container Records on Hamburg’s Reeperbahn, discovering his passion for mixing hip-hop and techno. Over the years, his mastery of blending vinyl and CDs has made him a sought-after artist, known for his technical skill and captivating stage presence.

With an impressive repertoire of sound and style, Chincha has left his mark on many renowned clubs and bars in Hamburg. His sets are not just musical performances but experiences, perfectly capturing and elevating the energy of the venue. With his steady hand on the decks and keen sense for the crowd’s vibe, he creates an immersive atmosphere that captivates the audience.

Currently, Chincha is a central part of DroneLab, a collective focused on promoting underground DJs. Here, he curates bookings from the Hamburg techno club [PAL], where he collaborates with resident DJs like Harre. He’s also worked with The Rogers, known for their high-energy performances. Additionally, his partnership with Snork Enterprises amplifies his new projects within DroneLab, bringing a fresh perspective to the underground scene.

Influential icons like Horacio Cruz, Dave Clarke, Nina Kraviz, and Sven Väth have inspired Chincha's sound, helping him shape his unique style. His passion for electronic music and relentless drive to explore new sounds and ideas make him a key figure in the rising underground techno scene.

Chincha's signature style and ability to energize every event with his talent make him a must-see act for any techno enthusiast. When he's behind the decks, the pulse of the night is guaranteed to be felt.
