This song came from the moment I stopped romanticizing the past and finally admitted what it cost me. I used color as the language for emotions I didn’t know how to name at the time — the yellow I lost, the red I carried, the black I hid in. I wasn’t writing about one person; I was writing about the version of myself that survived. “Seeing Colors” is the first time I let myself grieve honestly, without excuses, without pretending it didn’t break me. It’s healing in the shape of confession.

💬 Personal Reflection

There’s a kind of exhaustion that doesn’t show up in your body — it shows up in the places you stop believing in yourself. Unfold came from that place. I wrote it during a time when trusting anyone felt like walking barefoot through broken glass, and trusting myself felt even harder.

This song carries the weight of learning to open up again after years of being told I wasn’t worth showing up for. It’s messy, it’s vulnerable, and it’s honest. I needed to say these words out loud so I could finally stop holding my breath.
