About the song:
This song is all about that feeling you get right when you’re about to fall for someone; when you haven’t fallen just yet, but you’ve started feeling the butterflies in your stomach and know what’s coming. 

Sama wrote the lyrics about a skater girl and imagined the whole process of falling for her as something similar to falling flat on your face trying out a new trick on your skateboard. 

She concluded that the fall in itself isn’t the worst part by far; it’s the sinking feeling as you get back up on your feet, wipe the dirt off of your Dickies and look around to see how many people were watching. 

An upbeat summer bop about being awkwardly and nervously in love.

RiSi is a queer dream pop artist in California. She first fell in love with music  studying jazz drums in Philadelphia, where she grew up. She spent a year in Central Africa immersing herself in African rhythms, and then Brazil, drumming with a carnevale bloco in Recife. After her first love affair and heartbreak, she felt the pull to write songs -- and quickly realized this was her true calling. She has written for half a dozen artists in the indie, folk, pop, and Americana realm (Sydney Wright, Corinne McKnight, Jimi Fish) -- and toured the country several times with her own band, playing at festivals like SxSW, MusikFest, and Folk Alliance. Her duo Pls Pls Me became a cult favorite for their anti-Trump anthem Water Torture, which made the rounds on many Spotify playlists. They also founded an event called QUEER MF to diversify the music scene in Austin, TX, where the two originally met -- and later took the show on the road with queer storytellers and comedians.

RiSi's forthcoming solo debut features songs like Young Again, written from the perspective of a lover who finally explains why they hurt you, Dark Ages, a late night confessional inspired by scores of women coming forward in the Me Too movement, and Brooklyn Baby, about saying f*ck it all to chase your dreams. Her pandemic project was learning Ableton and starting to produce her own sounds 'n beats. With the world reopening, she is relocating to Los Angeles to pursue her dream of collaborating and writing with incredible artists. After spending many years playing in and leading bands of all dudes in Texas (despite constant refrains of "oh, you're a drummer? in a girl band?") she searches out queer artists, bad-ass-women, and people of color as co-writers and collaborators.
