"Picture This" / "Attention Now" was Julian Garnett's very first release under his moniker 'Julian G', which came out on Machine Mind Records (Norwich) on 23rd November 2015

"Whilst this is Julian's first release, he is an old hand when it comes to the house music scene. Julian first caught the acid house bug in '88 at the tender age of 14 through listening to London pirates like Sunrise and then Centreforce in 1989. He then went on to get involved in the emerging club scene of the capital, playing alongside names such as Kid Batchelor, Derrick May, Dave Piccioni and MC E-mix (Derrick May has yet to return his headphones). Julian then went on to get his own shows on stations such as * FLEX FM *, Don FM (legal license one-off), Re-Load, Juice FM, Taste FM and in 1996 he set up his own pirate radio station, Pure FM 104.9 (with Nut Nut & Wonky) ...

Fast forward to 2015 and the story continues with these two fine slices of techno soul music. A new chapter begins"

'K-Town', a new "bonus" track, which has previously been played by Ross Allen on his "Soup To Nuts" show on NTS Radio. The outro has a sample from Ross' interview with Harry Dennis at the NTS studio in Gillett Square, Dalston, London, which I recorded live in the studio at the time.

Freddy Bastone Feat. Ihsan - Black (Barry Joseph's 'The Hidden Mix')

Barry Joseph joined the JuJu Muzik clan after having a wee break from music production, but was immediately excited to be a part of this project. The opportunity came around off the back of working on the original release with Freddy and Julian in 2019, when he did the original masters.

Joseph has been obsessed with all things Electro and House since 82. He had the bug from a young age. Never really having the money in the 80s, he had various friends with 808s, Junos and 101s etc., you know the drill! Every opportunity at after parties, he would jam while people were oblivious. While living in France in 2000 he discovered the skills to build computers and started to build up a studio. On returning to Scotland he decided to develop this further through a spell in education at Fife College of Sound Production resulting in the set up of his own mastering house, 'Round Room Mastering'. He has mastered tracks for Thomas Barnett, Santonio Echols and Unique 3 to name a few.

Barry, ultimately is a clubber and a dancer. He grew up attending Heaven, Spectrum and Hacienda. The Sub Club in Glasgow was his home. At present, he is working on an ambient album with aspirations to work in the Film and TV industries, so this project has been a break from the norm.

With his mix of Black, the main objective was to make a Detroit warehouse style track focusing on Bass, Beats and Piano, with enveloping soundscapes and moods. When Julian approached him about getting involved, he said he needed money for a new dishwasher, so obviously said yes! Welcome onboard, Barry.

PREMIERE: Freddy Bastone Feat. Ihsan - Black (Barry Joseph's 'The Hidden Mix')

The original mix of "K-Town" debuted as a bonus track on the recently released As The Frost Sets In EP (22 November 2024). Following a small promotional mailout, the track garnered unexpected interest and support from various quarters, including notable backing from Ross Allen and Bill Brewster.

Ross has played "K-Town" multiple times on his Soup To Nuts show on NTS Radio and featured it in his The Best of 2024 Part One show and chart. Similarly, Bill highlighted the track in his podcast episode #772 (November 2024).

The track incorporates a sample from Ross Allen's interview with Harry Dennis (The IT, Jungle Wonz) at the NTS studio in Gillett Square, Dalston, London. Julian captured this moment live during the interview while in the studio.
