Promoting for Future Entertainment and Hardware in the early 000's gave me such amazing access to witness real techno, played to real crowds. Watching Richie Rich at 6am at Kryal Castle was more than inspiring.

20yrs later, I still love the craft as much as I did when I found it, this is a mix that goes back to my roots and is a sound I will be playing as much as possible in the future.

this is techno based, not strictly techno, I find it hard to stick to genres.

Tahl - Breakfast Club - Monday August 1st - Closing set

So this is a very personal and from the heart dj mix from the Chill Stage at the ever life changing Rainbow Serpent Festival this year. I started working on this mix as soon as I got home from last years festival and is a direct sequel to the one that was so well received. There is a bit of a novel below, so cut it short and listen now if you can't be bothered hearing some twaddle... or press play and have a read of what made this mix.

In the past year I have only tried furthered my skills in djing and have only cemented my love for the craft and eternal drive I have for music and getting it out to everyone who wants to hear it. I have also found solice in my choice to be a dj and not produce anything myself (not to say I won't)... because almost every sound I want to hear is out there ten fold, I just remind myself  to be a proper dj and dig the electronic music shops like I did the vinyl stores of Melbourne years ago. My colleagues however are another story as you will see below.

The aim of any true DJ should be the promotion of great music, how you give it to people is the artform, but at its base I believe a DJ should know they are playing other peoples music and be happy to get it out to as many people as possible. When your true friends have music worthy of this kind of thing, it makes a person like myself get very teary in the best sort of way.... SO, if you have not really heard the first of my mentioned producers, then you need to take the time to catch him and all his monikers....

Four tracks of The Oddness features in this mix and it was hard not to put the 5th one on the EP in there as well... I chose The Weeknd to easily mix in and out of Ferg's beats and I honestly hear just as good if not better production on my homies side....

Most people in Melbourne know this next artist, whether it having gone to one of his mind bending events or catching a set of raw techno from this guy who has dedicated his life to the scene and it's music.

His remix of the theme music to Requiem for a Dream is a big part of the mix and represents so much to me of this journey in the Melbourne music scene, I used to close Lounge with the same remix 6 or so years ago.  He has many big releases due as well as an album if I am not mistaken, so check him out and get on a dusty dancefloor next time you see the Organic Audio logo on an outdoor music event's flyer.

Lastly, but probably mostly is a great friend of mine and someone that has been outputting world class production for years but is only really know getting some of the props he has deserved for so many years....

His track Iridology is the final track of the mix and only took that position because the production level is so high it just made everything I put it with sound unfinished....

I planned the set out to the second and decided to record it. Apart from a ten minute block that was distorted (and cut out) I was stoked with how it turned out.

This was probably one of my most meaningful sets in the 19yrs I have been calling myself a DJ, its an gift even being able to go to Rainbow Serpent Festival each year, to play on the Market has been a dream of mine since the first time I saw it.... so thankful for the opportunity to live out that dream in 2019.
Have nothing but love and thanks for those who came down at 7am Sunday morning.... and nothing but love for the festival itself. Literally is the best. Thankyou.
