This track 'Sinai' is a heavy, percussion centric arrangement - mixing instrumentation from the Middle East and North Africa with classic UK sounds. Genre defying as always, but somewhere on the spectrum of hard drum, tribal, UK funky. Whatever you wanna call it, it's a major groove throughout - broken up only by a huge build up that will for sure rattle some heads in the dance!

I've been gassing up Muna's 160bpm productions for tiiiiiiiime whenever I get the chance, and now you can all FINALLY SEE WHY!!!

These HOOFERS are part of the first V/A release on Muna's own Label Patchworks - a label dedicated to supporting the FINT (female/intersex/nonbinary/trans)community in electronic music, with all the proceeds going to the TASSN (Trans Asylum Seeker Support Network), helping them with all the vital work they're doing, offering support to transgender refugees.

Muna sets the absolute TEMPO with these 2 EXPERTLY PRODUCED, spacey thrillrides through the cosmos, with fever-dream esque vocal sampling, intricate drums and ethereal sound design that'll just about put you in a bloomin trance if you ain't careful!!

The rest of the project is CHOC full of wicked tunes too from producers ACROSS the musical spectrum - there's everything from POWERFUL breaks to GORGEOUS stretched out ambient productions for the discerning listener - whatEVER your style, this project has got something for ya, I'm TELLIN YA!!

TAIPAN TRAX PRESENTS: TT001
Taipan Trax is proud to finally present the first physical release of the label: TT001.
Founded in 2021 by Leeds-based producer Phasmid, Taipan Trax has always sought
to get up and comers heard, championing dark, impactful productions with an
unsettling edge from across the world. As the label hits 50 tracks released to date,
TT001 is a timely showcase of the distinct, bass-led sound of Taipan, with label
regulars and new artists alike drawing upon multiple genres to form this
long-awaited four track VA.
Opening the A side is Australian producer DJ Sunroof. Having previously graced
imprints such as Break ‘N’ Pieces, Extra Spicy, and Finespun Recordings with his
unmistakable sound, his contribution to the release - ‘No Style’ - is a masterful
fusion of UKG and breaks, exploring ethereal pads and eerie vocal work to thick,
warped basslines.
A2 comes courtesy of label founder Phasmid, continuing his steady supply of
no-nonsense breaks-focussed club tracks. ‘Double Negative’ sees abrupt vocal
chops and textured drum patterns collide to create a driving breakbeat number that
begins with stripped-back bass weight, before opening out into a more spacious and
darkly melodic second half.
Kicking off the B side with brute force is Bristol-based K-65. Having garnered a
fierce reputation for his razor sharp electro-breaks, K-65 has pulled out all the stops
with ‘Kingpin’. Wielding piercing industrial bass and slick percussion, this track
makes its mark early doors, moving swiftly into a blistering 4x4 second drop.
The finale of TT001 comes from the notorious Oldboy. Needing little introduction,
Oldboy’s productions have made a major imprint upon the scene in recent years.
Whilst usually dealing in dark and deadly 2 step and 140, Oldboy steps up the tempo
here with ‘Scrap’ which, as the title suggests, is a gritty foray into the realm of
jungle/dnb - with signature Taipan bass.
TT001 will be available to order physically and digitally from the Taipan Trax
Bandcamp from July 14th. Preorders up June 9th.
