Murph Da Cooligan

Mixing poetic thoughts of women, video games, super villains, & good vibes wrapped in hip-hop form with the mentality of an old soul, Murph offers a his style of music to urban reality.

Baltimore born and raised as an inner-city youth, Murph was always a listening observer, but it was a close cousin, already involved in music, that influenced him the most. With someone there to help with direction, Murph found a way to release the thoughts and feelings that were forming as he listened to jazz, reggae and blues.

“Give me some Bob Marley or some Billie Holiday,” says Murph. “The concepts of the songs take me to another world.”

With no formal education in music, Murph managed to train himself in song writing, producing and audio engineering. Honing these self-taught skills like so many musical geniuses before him, Murph became a founding 
student-leader of Unchained Talent, an after school performing arts program, formerly at Lake Clifton High School.

After gaining extensive experience performing in area clubs, community events, and school functions, he realized his calling.

“To be cool is to be different. To be different, is to be a rebel,” reads the motto of Murph’s entourage, The Cooligans.


“It’s a refreshing thing to hear a hip-hop artist of today reach back to the art form’s origins and apply it to his own music,” says Morece. “I wish more hip-hop artists were bold enough to stay true to the genre’s roots.”

Aspiring to infuse the musicianship back into hip-hop, Murph is on a mission to create cool music.
