Summaboo (Sample)

A poem I wrote about my mother's life that I decided to put to a beat. She's part of the Silent Generation-one of the few still with us (83 at the time of this track's release)—and someone whose strength, grace, and quiet power have shaped generations.

But this piece is more than just about my mom. It's about legacy. About survival. It's about the wisdom we inherit, the stories we hold onto, the people who help us grow-and the enduring strength of Black women and motherhood.

“The Bookkeeper” is the first track The Wulf completed and intended for release on his debut double EP "The First and The Last" and became his first music video (https://youtu.be/2Amg8w3T32U). 

One of his simpler beats and most stylized deliveries, Taji tailored his flow on this one specifically to the grinding, darker rhythm that is less typical of his tracks, bringing the beat to life and giving an overall swagger to the song. Simply put, this song is about how Taji steadfastly embraces his independence, works hard, and keeps things professional regardless of what level of grind or success he is on.

This song is the grand culmination of the The Sun Rises in the East Project, which is a music video initiative and mini-documentary series by Taji Aqib aimed at restoring the authenticity of hip hop via a collaborative presentation of music and visual art with a theme of “the east” - the east coast of the US, where hip hop was originally cultivated, and the eastern region  of the globe - Africa - where mankind found its roots.
